Anyone interested in doing the Cape Cod National Seashore Over Beach drive? I'm planning on going in June. Seems like it would be fun. I've never been but have always wanted to.

Yeah. I'm planning on getting a 7 day pass. They are $50.

I was thinking the same exact thing. I'm not sure if they allow just regular vehicles to camp. They allow Self Contained Vehicles but that requires a different permit and is categorized as a vehicle with a toilet that holds the waste. Another option would be to stay at a campground along the way. There are some throughout the area.

From what I've read, Sandy Neck beach is the only beach that allows tent camping in an ORV. Sandy Neck is a nice place.

Just got a beach pass for the season. Sadly no camping out of a vehicle other than an RV with said self contained toilet. They do have primitive camp ground halfway down the beach but you have to walk to it. LAAAMME. It's pretty much a day use only beach. They boot you at 11pm.

I guess the only option would be to drive off the beach to a campground that we would be able to park at.

My current plan is to meet up at the Race Point Beach ORV office to get inspected, if you haven't already done so. This will be a 2 day trip. I am not sure how long it will take (if the whole thing can be driven in one day) but day 1 will end at halfway between Race Point Beach and Longnook beach which is looking like North Truro. We can stop along the way and enjoy the bach if we might end up there too quickly. If anyone knows of campgrounds around there please chime in. Day 2 will be driving the rest of the way to Longnook Beach where the trip will end. Of course I am open to ideas or input so whoever is coming please comment. Tentative dates will be June 29, 30, or 31.

I hear they are pretty strict because they limit the amount of permits. But all the stuff seems like stuff anyone who off roads should have. I think it's going to be June 29-30 but I'll post it up when I confirm. I have to take time off work too.

This sounds great since a buddy and I might go fishing or sailing the other days of the permit depending on the date though

Would everyone rather June 29,30 (Fri, Sat) or 30,31 (Sat, Sun)? You don't have to go for both days if you don't want to or can't.

I've been down there twice over the years, it's definitely a good time, but it's quite the drive to get to race point. The in-laws have a timeshare in Yarmouth and it's still a 45 minute drive down there.

The only issue I ran into down there was a well meaning friend who offered to lock the hubs on my 93 and didn't fully engage them. I put my back bumper on the sand at 10:30 at night.

It is quite nice to pull up to the water, hop out, grab your chairs from the bed and setting up shop.
