This thread kind of reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer designs a new car for his brother's car company. Homer puts every little feature he wants in the car, including the mega size cup holders. Brother goes full steam ahead with the project, and it bankrupts the company. Having said that, one more thing I would add to my earlier wishlist is a transmission fluid level dipstick.

And I miss my 1982 Toyota 4WD truck!

Whoa whoa...dude...dude. [shoulder massage]. You ok, man?

I get what you're saying though...I grew up in a base model Ford F-150 4x4 and it was great.

Here's my top 3 things I would change/"downgrade" on my Taco:

    1. "Downgrade" to lever(s) for 4x4 and Hi/Lo range.
    2. Manual hubs (three reasons, 1- less likely to fail, 2- they help prevent blood clots in ones legs, and 3- I love the solid, satisfying "click" when they engage)
    3. NO PREINSTALLED SIRIUS XM!!! Those people just won't get a hint. I don't want to subscribe!!!

Things I thought were unnecessary that I've come to like:

    1. BSM (I think of it as a jaded old man saying "Hey, there's some jackass parked in your blind spot"), plus you can turn it off if you're tired of said old man.
    2. Heated seats: I thought they seemed in line with what you're talking about @INSAYN , but now that I've tried em out...man they are great sometimes.
    3. Rear view camera (realized I loved this the first time I hooked up a trailer by myself--one of these days I'll get around to the anytime mod).

OR at a minimum, the ability to turn it off so it does not show in presets, audio selections, etc. Maybe a Techstream unsub/disable so the dealer can kill it and end all the F'ng calls, emails, junk mail......:annoyed:

I really have NO desire to subscribe and pay a "cable" bill for crappy radio, I can get that for free on FM if I wanted it.

LOL... yep, I was like... "ok, it's there for trial... will I like it?" Jeez! That thing is full of more useless banter and commercials than regular AM/FM/HD! Why would I pay to have someone interrupt my music every third song? I won't be subscribing... but they're welcome to go broke sending me snailmail.

Spot on for this circumstance! Having 2Lo could really be handy. But remember the opposite consequence too: Leaving the hubs "locked" and xfer case NOT in 4x4 (say in 2Hi at 55mph) will cause the rear end to break free when on anything other than dry pavement. Pushing those two front axles (i.e. front not pulling the truck) causes a large drag - and the rear badly wants to get around it. Speaking from experience. But I'm all for the lever controls, manual hubs, and stronger frames!

Are you puddle lights the Toyota OEM accessory ones? Just installed them yesterday and haven't tried them out in the dark. Only in the garage.

My 2011 Ford F150 didn't have a gas cap. It was a valve that only opened if you fit the correct size nozzle/emergency funnel into it. Ford started using them on all vehicles I think it 2010/2011. It was really surprising, but nice.

I thought you can change the settings to unlock all doors when you put the vehicle in park? That is how I did mine. Also when I shift into drive, all doors lock.

Doesn't the Spare have TPMS on it? The dealer told me that if I had the TPMS light come on to make sure to check the spare tire also cause it has it on it. Truck is a 2018 TRD Sport.

Sounds like my 2018 TRD Sport I just bought. Only thing I am missing is bed step (going to install that myself), Auto sensing wipers, remote start (debating on this still to install), power seats and heated steering wheel.
