They will. In the Landcruiser world, the "Poverty Pack" is one of the most coveted 80-series...often commanding a 50% premium today.

Chevy reduced the rating by 2,000 lbs because the truck has lift, a wider track and the rear springs and shocks are sized and tuned for off road use rather than stiffening up sufficiently with the full 7,000 lbs as the regular Colorado does. So I assume everyone who modifies their Tacoma does the same re-engineering and re-rating on their trucks, right?

This question is highly individualized. This is something that only you can answer. It will all depend on your specific situation.

I would have bought a diesel Colorado but I built one on the Chevy site and as soon as I added the diesel it was 42k. Figured you can't go wrong with the Tacoma and I love it so far.

Do you disagree that resale of a pro is going to be best?

I think when you factor price differential between the Pro and other models now and compare it to price difference in resale later, you'll lose more money on the Pro.

If you pay 3-5k more on a Pro over an OR now then in 5 years find both again on the used market, you're not going to see that 3-5k spread, at most maybe $500 to $1k and that's only if it's an unmolested Pro.

To maintain the most value for the Pro you'd need to replace worn suspension parts with the same original factory pieces which might also be more expensive than regular replacement shocks that could be used on the OR.

SoCal market is quite different than where you are located.
I see what you are saying, but factor in leather, headlights, etc.

Not everyone is looking for blacked out headlights and a bunch might prefer having a sunroof.

TRD OR and Sport get leather now.

How do you think the Pro resale value would compare to an OR longbed?

Leather is on the 18 TRDOR.

There aren’t many differences. And the TRDOR differences that are to its advantage (moonroof, JBL) offset the pros stickers and emblems.
