Show us your truck bed sleeping platform/drawer/storage systems

Damn that's beautiful wood.

 

The difference between a knotty plywood and that pretty flowing grain you got going on there on your drawers. I dig it.

How is everyone securing their drawers to the bed? I’d imagine unsecured drawers would tip up at the end towards the front of the truck when the drawers are full of heavy gear and extended.

 

I found some 90 degree brackets that were long enough, then drilled them out and bolted them down with the bed bolts. I used some carriage bolts through the inside of the drawer boxes out to bolt them to the brackets. For the front I did the same thing but I didn't use the bed bolts, I used the former D-ring bolts which I had already replaced with 7/16 grade 8 bolts when I did the bed stiffeners.

 

Mine are not bolted down. No issues.

 

Haven't updated in here in awhile, got a lot done, I had issues getting the plywood to fit and the only middle board is only 1/2" thick so I decided to cut the boards into a puzzle piece kind of pattern to distribute the weight nicely. Just need to cut the access areas out and add the last board in the back then I'm basically finished.

Looks sweet! What did you use for the sliders? They make alot of noise going down the road?

 

I haven't heard them at all, there isn't much space for them to move and the entire frame is bolted down. I used a couple 10 foot lengths of 1.5x3/4 aluminum sharp corner tube and then drilled 3/4 holes on one side to fit a socket in. I bolted them on with countersunk stainless bolts and locknuts, I did a bolt every 6 inches, which was overkill, but they came out nice. left about 1/8" between the bottom of the drawer and the bottom plywood board and about 1/16 between the top of the drawer and the top board. They can hold my weight (bout 150lb ) and slide easy, so Im happy with em.

What is the depth front to back of the drawers?

Isn't that set about $1,500?
I know it's not even in the same ballpark of nice as ARB, TJM, etc.

 

This retails for $1249 and is extremely good quality.

ARB is way more expensive @~$700 a drawer and they aren't even offered in full length, just 37" long.

The only other company that makes a system that spans the full width of the bed is a Truckvault(that I can find), and that's close to $3k. The MSA(TJM) 4x4 drawer system is $2200(USD) and that doesnt even include freight from Australia. Also, MSA doesn't offer a kit for the Tacoma

 

The set I saw looked like thin tubs of plastic. Seems extremely cheap.

 

Each drawer can hold 200lbs It's not just your typical bed bath and beyond tote lol It might look cheap, but in person they are very sturdy and have a ton of rigidity.
