Turbos are generally considered to be more efficient if I am not mistaken and with modern technology and smaller turbos rather than the massive ones people think about, there's nearly no turbo lag. Idk if Mat still plans to but he initially had said he was looking into using gtx28 series turbos, which is relatively small while still being quite capable. It's even considered an upgrade in hot hatch applications. At the rpms that it spools at, a lot of us would be spooling up or about to spool, at the rpms where most of us drive at (everyone drives a little differently of course)

A supercharger uses power to make power but it does provide low rpm torque for sure. So it makes power less efficiently than a turbo, which uses exhaust gasses and spools up. Free power

Someone else feel free to chime in about the TC/SC thing too. I'm by no means an expert and it's also been well over a year since I owned a turbo'd car and kept current on my modern FI knowledge lol

It seemed by what mat had said, turbochargers would be easier and the 2gr would respond better to. The Lexus motors that are similar, and the way 2gr is different than the 1gr..

A lot of advancement has happened with turbos since you did your homework apparently, dude! JK, but if you size a turbo correctly to the displacement of an engine and dont go for some wild, 800 hp single turbo setup, you can actually get the best of both worlds, being significantly more power from about 1500 rpm on in addition to absolutely screaming after 4K the way it usually does. Ball bearing turbos take very little exhaust to spool up. and yeah cost is factor too. Doesnt really make sense to me since a supercharger is just one piece of equipment whereas with a turbo you need downpipes, intercooler, intercooler tubing, BOV, and typically all new silicone fittings since the turbos should be able to shred rubber ones but thats how it seems to work out. I guess turbos are pretty simple when you get right down to it whereas a supercharger must be really complicated internally

The massive behemoth turbos that most people think of are only good for building a dyno-queen and going for record numbers. Good luck ever spooling those suckers on the street, and then using them for any respectable bit of your powerband lol There's mid-sized ones too, but still, they're for power more than drivability

Exactly, but you throw in two nice small turbos and some nice high flow tubing, you could be talking about a REALLY fun drive at that point. Something like 300hp on tap from about 2K up with the full 400-425 kicking in up top
