Entune JBL plus rebooting when making calls

I have been having some issues with my entune head unit and I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem.

When attempting to call someone from my phone or the head unit via Bluetooth the call will begin to ring, the unit goes to handset mode and then completely reboots. It takes approx 45 seconds to power back up. This has been coming up more often lately. The dealer said could not replicate of course. I will likely film the issue and show it to them.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Yep. My dealer just updated the head unit software for me and same thing happened this morning. No rhyme or reason why.

 

Let me know if the dealer sorts it out!

Yes, after the update. Are you using an iPhone? I think the issues started for me after the 11.3 update, so it may or may not be a Toyota problem.

Any idea what else the update brought? any new features, or just fixes?

 

I’ve been having this issue as well. I have an iPhone 6s 11.3 IOS.

My system keeps rebooting and it’s very annoying.

 

My headunit was replaced under warranty simular issue.

 

did it fix the problem?

 

So far it have seemed to yes. My issues was with the Bluetooth and music songs connecting / resetting.

 

I’ve been dealing with this since my 16, am actually at the dealer now for the same on my 18.
If you want them to replicate it, have your phone hooked up Bluetooth playing music when you try to make call, that seems to reboot it every time for me.
Don’t let them tell you it’s your phone/phone OS: I went through months of tech assistance with Apple and two phones and a phone call with an engineer to confirm it is not the phones or iOS, it’s entune.
I’ll let you know if I find a fix.

 

I have a service appointment for tomorrow morning. The service guy said “there have been a lot of complaints” so hopefully they fix it quickly.

 

Update on mine: they tried to update radio and the update failed, radio got froze on start up screen. Replacement head-unit on the way, we’ll see if that works.

Did learn that you can hard reset the radio by holding the volume and tune knobs in simultaneously.

 

I'm not sure if this is a different issue or the same issue related. My radio is rebooting when I go to use Mobile Assistant. Any other time it works fine. I just picked up the 2018 Tacoma a couple of weeks ago. In previous threads, it was mentioned there were too many contacts that may have caused it. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

 

Sometimes when shifting from reverse to drive, the head unit will go blank. Need to touch audio before screen returns

 

What is mobile assistant? Is that the entune app on the phone?

 

Same issue, he’s talking about calling up Siri/whatever using the steering wheel

 

If you press and hold the answer button on your steering wheel, it will bring up Siri if you have an iPhone. Not sure what it would do on an Android. Maybe bring up Google. Anyways, I just update the phone to the latest version of software. We’ll see if that fixes it.

 

So the dealer said this is a really common issue. They reset everything and I have to drive it for a week and see how it works... then they will replace it.
