Front turn signal wires HELP

yeah they come with the bulb socket but not the plug from the vehicle.

I need a new one myself I think. I've gone through about 4 housings getting moisture and destroying to reflective coating. tried silicone this last time but still no luck, and only the driver's side too

the housing has 4 (2 different sized) notches.



if you can find sockets that fit and direct wire them I'd say go for it. better yet, get 1157 sockets as there are more choices of bulbs. my current DEPO branded ones have 1157 and sooo much cheaper to find LED bulbs

 

Got my connector. Which color wire connects to which? And what color/gauge splice do I need?

 

On the car side:
White/Black Stripe turn signal ground -
Green/Yellow Stripe + turn signal

On the new connector:
Black is ground
Brown is + parking light
Yellow is + turn signal

 

So the white/black stripe wire car side gets wired to the black wire on the connector. And the green/yellow stripe wire car side gets wired to the brown and yellow wires on the connector?

 

no, only the yellow wire. you can't use the third wire unless you have a dual-filament bulb (ours are wired for 1 filament function)

So I tried to replace all of my turn signals with LEDs. I have the correct leds to prevent hyperflash as all of them work, however I have an issue with my left front. I noticed some frayed wires on the white/black ground wire, the turn signal was not working and decided to replace the pigtail. I also have a pigtail with three wires, but I have black, white and yellow. I spliced black to white black and yellow to green/yellow and left the white not used. Now I am getting a very dim front left turn signal when the signal is on and I am getting hyperflash. I get the dimming and hyper flash regardless if I use the led or the incandescent. Any ideas what the turn signal voltage should be? Any idea what is going on here? My nest step is to replace the socket. Right turn signal and rear lights all work and are bright.

 

are you sure you wired the correct wires for the new pigtail? usually they will be located in the same order as the one you cut off so just make sure they are correct.

also with LEDs they are polarity specific (and for the 01-04 you WILL need CK style 3157/4157, normal x157 will cause issues)

 

Changed the socket. Didn’t help. I guess I could have wired it incorrectly as there were no instructions with the pig tail. I noticed on the stock install that that the orientation of the wires have the ground wire in the middle of the three plug array, the turn signal wires on the top of the array and the bottom array is empty. With the replacement array, I noticed when the pig tail and socket are lined up the same way as on the right, the ground (black) is in the middle, and the yellow wire is on the bottom and the white wire on top. I wired the turn signal into the yellow wire and the white wire is not used. I was going by the color coding of the previous posts. But I am wondering if the coloring on the aftermarket pigtail is less important than the placement of the wires. I guess my question would be if I wired the turn signal wire into the wrong pig tail wire, would that result in a dim turn signal, or would it just not work at all? Also it looks like the new pigtail wires are a larger gauge wire, so would I be loosing voltage there? Pretty sure the ground wire is good to go.

 

it matters more "where" the wires are, not really what color they are. remember it's a "generic" pigtail you bought, not a "Toyota Tacoma" pigtail so the colors will not match.

You are probably getting cross-signal due to the bulb hitting the other contact. hard to explain for me but normal bulbs are not polarity sensitive and are not CK-style:

You can also look on the old pigtail (if you still have it) and see where the contacts are located. then use the same location. I added an extra wire to mine and used it for "running light" to be a constant on. turn signal still functions.

 

That plug won't fit in the socket because the plugs are not orientated the same way. Factory plug looks like this. l - new one looks like this l l l
