I have a 2007 DCLB Sport and I just got a 18in magnaflow muffler because I wanted some better sound but not too much. I love it but I would love it even more if it was just a tad bit louder. I was thinking that the exhaust chop right after the rear axle and angled down would probably create a little more noise echoing off the road wouldn't it? Anyone that has done this and noticed more sound?

At idle and at cruising speeds I can't hear the muffler at all so I wouldn't mind more drone

Put a glasspack on it and leave the tailpipe as is.

Here is mine, it’s a Flowmaster 40, it is pretty loud in the low ranges. I like it a lot!

Nice! Do you think chopping the exhaust and angling down made it a little louder? I love my magnaflow I just got yesterday but I just want a little bit more noise

No a tip isn’t going to make more sound

I have a manga flow as well, the shorter one, and it’s decently loud. Chopping it made no difference in sound

I never had this muffler any other way, but I did have a Dynomax Turbo muffler on it before. The closer I cut the pipe back on that one, the louder it got (I kept chopping slowly). It still wasn’t loud enough so I switched to this one.

I got an 18" MF and it only stayed on my truck one single day because I couldn't stand its loudness-this thing set off car alarms. But maybe because mine was two outlet it was maybe louder than yours? My MF sits in my garage now and I have to sell it.
I heard that after they break in a bit they get louder too so if that's what you want you may wind up liking it better.

Going from stop through about 2k RPMs mine is loud, but it’s not loud at all cruising. Just a slight rumble at cruising speed.

My advice is to get the 16” one. Mine you can hear it. It it’s not annoying.
I’ve heard the 18” before and too quite for me.

I had a flowmaster before and an aero and those were super loud

I have a 14" Oval Magna Flow, sounds good but it's too quiet.

You need a cherry Bomb muffler, I had one on my Chevy El Camino and it would turn heads when I revved it on the strip.

I just hear so many different opinions on these mufflers. Some people say that the 14 is loud and obnoxious and others say it's not loud enough and people say the same about the 18's either way I'm keeping my 18 and maybe I'll just wait to see if it breaks In over time and gets louder but we will see I only want a little bit more noise not a bunch so maybe I'll just wait it out and see. I was just thinking that the exhaust chop would make the little bit more noise that I was looking for and I think it looks good without a ugly pipe sticking out the side of my truck so maybe I'll just roll the dice and chop it anyway.
