I go where my job takes me. In this case I'm going to watch military planes fly so yes I'm definitely looking forward to this trip.

They found it... And I made it to LA

Doing that at Killington would suck for sure. How have you been training for it? Just the fitness cult? Or doing more running also?

I'm hoping next year to be in a place where I could possibly do some of these endurance races. Doing 3 Tough Mudder fulls this year, probably do a a couple half marathons throughout the year.

Awesome you'll love it. Rutland / Barre are decent places for first time racers. Relatively no elevation change, but enough mud and water to keep it interesting. Last year in Rutland it was right after a big rain and some of the little streams we're waist deep and you'd be traveling in the for like 1/4 mile. It was pretty cool. And so much mud. Invest in a pair of ocr shoes if you're planning to so more than 1. Reg sneakers will be ok for a Sprint, but you'll have traction issues in the mud. For 1 race it's fine, but the ocr are really nice cause they drain so they don't weigh 4000# and they are basically cleats on the bottom which especially helps on downhills.

Mainly fitness cult and running 3-4x a week at the office gym treadmill/ stairmaster with a 20# weight vest during lunch.

Side note : I fucking despise running so I don't really do it when prepping. The 3 guys I'm doing it with are runners and will smoke me. At the Killington beast last year in competative bracket they were all top 2% while I was way back in top 40%. They run fast all day. I just go slow and steady out the gate and try to maintain. More of a mental grind for me. They are all already qualified for North American OCR championship in 2018.

TM are cool too. The thing I don't like about them is the obstacles are basically optional and there's no penalty for bypassing. Granted people don't do penalty burpees at Spartans but I typically do competitive heat to avoid that. And at the beast/ ultra level they watch close and are now videoing to make sure you do all 30 penalty burpees if you fail an obstacle. I also enjoy the Spartan obstacles more. IMO the suck factor is much greater.

I've learned to "enjoy" running. More so because I've been able to learn to clear my mind while doing it. I can't stand the treadmill and so far put 275 miles on my odometer for the year.

The shoes likes you mentioned are huge. I currently have a pair of Reebok All Terrains that are awesome. Drain the water instantly.

Probably straight to new. I'll probably take a few days in the next two weeks. Actually already have Monday off as it's the end of the month so I won't be there for the crazy shipping day.
