Can I get fox or kings (shocks only) and be able to lift it 1-2” without changing anything else? Stock leafs and control arms everything stock just shocks and call it a day? I wanted to clear a 33, but I can live with a 32. Thanks

Finally got setup with King 2.5's with compression adjusters in the front and rear. I know I have to feel it out and adjust accordingly to my own rig/setup, but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for the compression settings between on road and off-road conditions (I know on road will be softer and off-road will be stiffer, but just wanted to get an idea of how many clicks you guys adjust between daily driving, trail crawling, and desert mobbin).

Hey there, I just installed my T3 this weekend and had the same dilemma. I called and spoke to Kenny/CBI. This is what he had to say:
    - Custom brackets can be made to work, but it would cost to get these fabbed and made.
    - If you're not using a winch, you don't need these frame brackets; he stated this was over-engineered way back when this bumper came out years ago
    - His opinion is that you don't need it, unless you're doing hard side winch pulls (which isn't recommended anyway)
    - The bracket works OVER the King RR bracket, but you'll have to use a cutting tool/angle grinder to notch out a section for the frame bracket to fit.

For now, I don't have the frame brackets on as I think it's over-engineered anyways. If I decide to powder coat my RR brackets, I'll notch it before sending it to be PC'd.

So, I know there are a bunch of you guys running 700# springs with a front bumper, winch, and skids. I'm getting ready to install my kings with 650# springs. When I originally ordered my coilovers and springs I wasnt planning on running any extra weight. Thanks to this wonderful forum, plans have changed. Ordered a c4 fab lo pro bumper and winch. As well as aluminum skids. Already habe c4 sliders.
In an effort to try and be proactive, would all that weight be too much for the proload? Should i just bite the bullet and put on 700s now? Anybody running 650 springs with a lo pro bumper?

Looking to be running 2.5 inches of lift or just below

I will say that Micah at DSM would say 650 and allow for some preload, but I say 700.

So I’m in the same boat as you and didn’t plan for a bumper and have 600lbs coils. You might want to give Kings a call since I did and they said the standard coils will do just fine. Also depending on your preference and how you use your truck, it might be better to stick with it or change it. For me, it’s mostly a daily driver and I have my adjusters all the way soft bc I like a softer ride on the road. Spoke to one of their experienced techs and he said you really don’t need to go up on the springs unless you go over 300+ lbs in armor. Anything below that it’s ride preference if you prefer a firmer or softer ride. He said the preload wouldn’t be that drastic unless you’re adding a whole lot and has worked with plenty of Tacomas with similar setups. Currently I have a skid plate and sliders and I only have 8-9 threads showing and almost 2.5” of lift so adding a 100lb bumper shouldn’t drop the lift down too much more so I’m guessing maybe 2-3 more threads afterwards should be fine. Then I would just increase my adjusters if it’s too soft. Just my opinion but then again, I’m not an “overlander” so what do I know.

Well hopefully it’ll work out for you. I’m gonna stick with the 600s for now and see how it rides after the bumper.

If you do get 650's and do not like them then let me know as I would like to purchase them for my truck. I currently have 600's and will be adding a winch and the Low Pro winch bumper so I would like to move up to the 650's.

Direct from DSM a few months back:

If the total added weight you plan to put on the front end is less than
say 175lbs then we would suggest a 650lb spring. If you are adding
200lbs or more we would suggest the 700lbspring.

Guys I need a king rep ASAP long story short. king rebuilt some brand new shocks for my 1st gen. Me being new to the game on building shocks they only asked me for one measurement full droop. That’s what I gave them and they bodies are way to long once as ride height, it’s only showing about 3” of shaft. Upon calling them back several times trying to be nice pretty much i got told I had to pay another $700 for another rebuild. I don’t think that is fair being charged 2x when I didn’t know. That’s why I called them the professionals and was not told correctly what to do. Acourse the guy I was dealing with no longer works there. I need some help or a petition guys something this is bs!!!! I love my kings but after his I am not sure I would ever deal with them again!!!

Now I know 3 measurements and needs after dealing with somewlse full droop, ride height and full compression!!
