Thanks for the heads up, I can definitely do something about that.

Just got the CNC plasma table delivered yesterday morning and installed/running by the afternoon. Expect some more big updates in the next week.

Well what the heck. I’ll give this thread some love just too get me through this rainy day.

Yesterday i did some test fitting of my Alu-Cab fridge slide (for 63qt ARB). Don’t wanna drill the Decked though until i have the GFC at least in route. No sense in leaving the fridge slide sitting out in the weather and adding holes to my Decked earlier than i have too...

Anyone else making any GFC arrival mods???

I can understand that. Those were actually my first plan (front runner boxes) but i decided a liked the platform idea anyway. But i certainly get it either way. The Decked is awesome but just over 200lbs so far from light.

I figure I’ll build a little platform over the fridge to act as the base for “GFC couch mode” when it comes in. My 63qt ARB is pretty low profile so it should work well.

Nope.... but i will now haha! I was planning on laying out the holes in areas that allowed for installation of large stainless fender washers... i can’t imagine there’s much stress from a fridge though... hard braking maybe???

I guess i “could” mount a Rhino-lined piece of 3/4” plywood to the metal supports in the Decked system and mount the slide to that. I guess that’d be by far the strongest.

Actually i didn’t spin any anchors.... and i even used power tools to assemble it (If you have one you know how many times the directions warn about this). Though i did use a 90 degree driver on a very low setting and snugged them all by hand afterwards haha. Can’t be too safe.

So now I’m thinking how about if I bolted the slide down spanning the cross braces with a 1” wide 3/8” steel plate bolting to either side of the metal square stock. That way the hole through the plastic wouldn’t have any forces applied to it really at all.

    3FE294E3-8B48-45A8-A9AF-AE97677C842B.jpg
I’ll make something roughly like this.
    4BA02E88-D1EE-47E9-8EC6-8031ED1BD496.jpg
    Or even easier U-bolts.

To go on the bottom around the steel reinforcements. And bolt the slide down from the top.

    D1E4FC9A-C72F-44C5-B666-24C86BB143AF.jpg

I can’t IMAGINE that wouldn’t be strong enough? Great advice though! I LOVE over-engineering! It’s literally my life (drives my wife insane!!)

    BTW google images is amazing.

It’s only 18 bolts if i recall to pull off the top of he decked... but in all actuality my fridge and slide will be under my GFC, and when i pull the GFC for winter I’ll remove the fridge and install a simple toneu over the Decked/ slide and my Yakima bars (more on these to come)

Why are you going to take the GFC off in the winter?

A few reasons but mostly because there’s a zero percent chance I’ll use it between December and March, and where i live they throw PURE salt on the roads so i remove everything i can from my truck during this time and run it through a touchless car wash as often as i can.

I’ve got a 1200 sqft heated garage with 13’ ceilings so storage isn’t much of an issue.

I use military surplus medical chests. aluminum. Take a beating. Water proof usually if you don't get a bad seal. And stack able with slimmer chests. No cheap, but work awesome. I have 2 medium and 2 smaller ones. With the small ones stacked on the medium ones its just about bed rail height. On a 1st gen they fit perfectly between the wheel wells.

You can kind of seem it here, I have a low profile setup.

just over the bed rails. But thats a lot of storage. Thats all my tools, OSK, Kitchen and dry food storage for 2 weeks. Only takes up half the 5' bed or so. Works great for me.

Not sure they are worse than the frontrunner stuff..

    https://colemans.com/shop/containers/medical-transport-chest-u-s-g-i-aluminum/

The medium ones i use for lowers

    Small for uppers: https://colemans.com/shop/containers/u-s-g-i-aluminum-medical-transport-chest-small/

If you look around you can usually get them for good deals. Some are harder to find than others.

    Dear innovative engineers,

I have ordered a gfc. As I was contemplating a decked system or a make my own raised bed I was struck by how relatively simple it would be to use your upper transform a floor system as a lower transform a floor system for a tacoma. I know you had talked about it. So here goes:

    1. I want a transform a floor (composite) that allows me to convert from just half the floor lengthwise to stowing it up front like the upper floor.

    2. Matching cushions for someone to sleep down below. OK, so I snore and will no doubt get sentenced to the basement by my wife.

    3. Able to use it as a lounge seat/couch in bad weather supplemented with cushions from up above.

    4. I don’t need fancy drawers that are heavy and expensive. Now storage boxes that fit underneath perfectly that are semi-loadbearing...now we’re talking.

I know you guys are probably just bored hanging around wondering what to work on next (sarc), so I thought I would share my thoughts. I would buy that system for my tacoma. Oh ya, could you get it done by summer.

    Thanks for the amazing camper!!!

Welcome to TW! Great first post.

I have something similar.. a transform a floor platform (made out of plywood, cut into many different sections, and carpeted). I plan on keeping my tri-fold mattreses in the bed also do double as seats or put open as beds... in case I end up in the dog house too. lol. Under the platform I have rolling tubs that fit perfectly.

Questions on mounting an ARB 1.25m awning on the back of the camper:

1: Will the bar with the latches are part of allow it to mount on the rear extrusion?

2: Can the brake light be moved to the upper part of the camper instead of the bottom? I don’t need the brake light when the camper is open, so it can be on the part up in the air. But I need the awning on the back to cover my cooking area. And a 270 awning isn’t on the table, so please don’t...
