I would just spend the $50 more for the SPC's so you have caster adjustment with balljoint position and camber with the slot then just fine tune with factory adjusters on LCA. Also no pressing necessary to replace balljoints. Those things are worth the extra $50 IMO........just saying, not bashing.

At the price they are now I would agree. When I got mine they were 289 lol. Looks like they are like 339 or higher now.

 

100% agree but i paid 240$ for mine so its definitely a steal at that price.

 

I’ve been running mine for over 2 years with zero issues. I’ve got 35’s and over 3” if lift. I don’t do hardcore rock crawling but I do off road almost weekly and I thrash on my truck when I do. I haven’t had to replace the bushings or ball joints and my tires wear evenly, though I just started researching the ball joints since I’m replacing my lowers and I might as well do the upper ones too. I’m going to assume factory style ball joints will work. Only way to be sure is pull these out and compare them. Another plus I wanna mention is they don’t hit the coil springs even with a lot of lift and even at max articulation. I swapped to Total Chaos arms and they were within a quarter inch of the coil springs and on the tiniest bumps or uneven surfaces they would contact them so I put these back on. Maybe they only work with tiny lifts? Don’t know. Not bashing Total Chaos, just my personal experience. So my 2 cents is these are excellent control arms with an excellent price. Something other manufacturers need to practice since they’re always waaaaaay, waaaaaaay, overpriced IMO. Yeah you sometimes get what you pay for but I don’t agree with 300-400% markups over actual cost because someone wants us to feel guilty for not buying their American made product.

 

At $240 I would have gone with these but already had the $370 SPC set and these now up to $320 would push me towards the SPC's for the reasons I stated in other post. Glad for more options other than full bore crazy money stuff for Baja 1000 type use. All of us aren't doing that level build out....especially on a daily driver.

 

If you pull the upper ball joints please post some pics and let us know if oem or MOOG joints fit! If they do then that a win win!

 

I don't think anyone will argue that the 50 bucks extra for adjustable SPCs isn't worth it. I got the freedom ones because they were really cheap when I bought them. I can' believe they got arrogant and raised the price. They aren't going to sell any more now. The product isn't that amazing. The price was attractive.

 

Thank you. 3.0 caster seems like a lot. What exactly is the benefit of more caster vs just "within spec'?"

When you lift the truck the higher caster helps it not wander on the road at high speed.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to try these and had to take advantage of the ebay coupon. I've been on stock UCA's and Bilsteins 6112's with 2.5" of lift for a year and a half now. Tires are wearing fine and the truck handles well until the road gets uneven then I'm constantly correcting the steering. Crossing my fingers for a better alignment and no hassle.

 

Spoke with Freedom Offroad and the ball joint has a lifetime warranty so if it’s getting sloppy supply them with a proof of purchase or pics proving your using their arms and they’ll replace the ball joints!!!

 

More hassle than going to Napa and getting a ball joint and throw it in ... what if freedom off-road goes bye bye. I will investigate and report back... mine were just delivered ...

 

Once my new ball joints show up I’ll compare them with stock style ball joints and update on this thread with pics.

 

Well, this party really died...

Anyways, I got mine, they look good! I will be installing these Friday and then Saturday AM going to Toyota for an alignment ($80 special). I will report back with numbers and impressions... look forward to a 2-3 degree caster setting, TRD pro front suspension leaves my little 4 banger a little jumpy on the front end...

 

Got mine installed last weekend. They seem well made and the install wasn't too bad. I took it to Firestone for an alignment. I asked for 3 degrees caster and 0 toe and camber. The tech set the caster at 2.7 degrees passenger side and 1.8 degrees drivers side. He got my toe and camber set near 0. My truck drives noticibly better because I had excess camber and low caster before the new UCA's. I want the drivers caster closer to the passenger so I plan to try a different Firestone soon since I got the lifetime alignment.

 

Here’s the replacement ball joints. By the way they are only lifetime warrantied against defects not normal wear and tear.
I don’t see any part numbers and at first glance they appear proprietary. If anyone recognizes these as factory style or otherwise feel free to chime in.

 

How hard was it to remove them?

 

Haven’t yet. I’m assuming no harder than any other with a hand held ball joint press.
