2016 OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Manual Transmission / Engine ECU Reflash

btw I have 3500 miles on 2t3. no complaints here. its still great.

 

I changed my transmission fluid and both the front and rear diff over the weekend. I've got about 400 miles on the truck since doing so and I gotta say, if you haven't done this you should probably think about doing so. I had a about 40k on my truck and the fluid was pretty black. I've noticed a difference for sure.

Whenever I'd turn off the cruise control, it was jerky so I'd typically speed up a little then turn it off. Since changing the fluids this no longer happens. I've also noticed the shifts feel smoother than before.

On top of this, my diff whine is almost completely gone. I've heard it faintly a couple times when I tried to make it happen but its no where near what it was before.

It was well worth the few hours of effort and $200 for the fluids.

 

Was it the stock fluid from when you purchased the truck? If so, it should be pretty black considering it was 39,500 miles past break in. I keep telling people that just because the truck is new, doesn’t mean the gears are broken in. Every vehicle I have owned I break the gears in properly and change the diff fluid after the first 500 miles. When I regeared my truck at 33k the gear oil I put in at 500 miles still looked good.

 

This is gonna be a pretty good evening... elimination of the Leafs from the playoffs AND M/T tune info from Mat.

Yes stock fluid. I think knowing what I know now I’ll definitely do it sooner on the next truck. Glad I did it when I did though.
