Been reading a good bit about this situation that @JimboAnz is in today and seems to be fairly common for our trucks to blow up the rear when wheeling hard. More so than I would have thought.

Really? I'm interested to learn more about this... It seems quite random. We have Cap on 37's and down to people like myself on 32's. OEM and aftermarket gears!

Well, it's probably seeming common to me because that's what I'm searching for. lol But my God upgrading the rear is expensive! Looking at Dynatrac and Currie etc and it gets into the several thousands of dollars real quick to do everything.

You don't need them type of axles you can go to the junkyard pick up a 14-bolt rear end for $300 spent $400 converting it to a 6 lug switch the spring perches and done oh yeah make drive shafts. PS loose the extra weight while Wheeling

Yeah. The 14 bolt swap from a GM was the other thing I was reading about. Didn't someone on here do one?

Probably. Won't be long before we swap caps rear end. Already in the works.

I haven't looked into this yet - but, would a rear axle from a V8 4Runner offer any improvements? I figure that one would be a little stronger anyway and the WMS-WMS should be closer than a 14-bolt (I think)

They look like the TRD Pro headlights with the darker chrome? Don’t even know if they make those for the 05-11s though.

Not sure, but pretty sure it's still a 8" ring

I think the sport recall headlights had a darker chrome than the off-road housings.

    All 2wd and 4wd T100's, '00-06 Tundra's, and ?? Sequoia's use a newer/stronger 8" 2-pinion diff. Tacoma 4x4's and Tacoma PreRunner's that don't come with the electric locker (aka "non-TRD), as well as V6 Tacoma 4x2's also came with this diff.
This diff commonly and mistakenly called an 8.4" or 8.25" diff, possibly to imply its extra strength. The ring gear actually measures 8". The extra strength of this diff comes from the bearing cap/truss and large diameter pinion gear shaft.

Innnnteresting. And Jimbo has broken the ring gear both times? Doesn't sound like that would help much, unless it's the bearing truss that is moving enough to allow the kaboom.

I probably would if I was locked, but my 2wd won’t hit on too much right now. Just started saving for locker and new tires right now then I might go do some of the easier stuff out there but nothing too crazy. Truck isn’t paid off yet.

I think most of the problems were in the TRD ORs. I think the anything non-elocker was good. But that’s just what I’ve heard.

Oh yeah! Open invite to busted knuckle June 1-3... It's $80 for all three days. There will be no one else there besides the group that goes with us.

Yeah I have many a times we just make fun of Cary because in the triangle that seems to be the place they congregate but now it doesn't matter.
