Rotated the tires and checked ball joints. Everything seemed good. Checked my wheel bearings as well, no play or really any sticking but on the drivers side I can hear what almost sounds like a break pad making slight contact with a rotor :notsure: Really not wanting to replacing wheel bearings right now 1) because I don’t have the tools or time 2) I don’t want to fork over that kinda money to pay someone to do it.

Note to self... The restrictor in the supercharger bypass valve is important if you don't have a fuel tuner. I put that little bastard back in and my truck is what I would consider drivable by a normal person now. I would not hesitate to let someone drive it now. Seems as if boost was coming in so quickly on part throttle acceleration that it was having trouble fueling fast enough.

Do I need a diff drop if I'm lifting 2.5 inches?

Forgot to mention this on Tuesday. Fixed the bucking/kicking issue with mine. I didn’t put the restrictor back in seeing as I never had one.. but I made my own. I did some butt Dyno street tuning with a buddy and on the R4 software, any time it downshifted the boost spiked to like 12 psi it would cough and buck, level out at like 7-8 and would run strong from there.

don't need one ever. All it does is lower the front mounts effectively tilting the diff...thats it. No point to it. Changes your CV axles like maybe 1/8''.

I think most people will say it doesn’t help enough to worry about it.

Is there a reason why so many people do it? I understand it reduces the stress on the CV angle but I don't know how much of a difference it makes.

...but a diff drop doesn't really hurt either, assuming it doesn't interfere with your skids. I (and others) have had one installed for years, and I don't think we're planning to remove.

It doesn’t help the cv angle very much at all. I think people do it because so and so told them to

Would a diff drop interfere with the stock skids?

I mean, I have them off right now (I was too lazy to put them back after my 4WD conversion) but I plan on putting them back... eventually.

Most diff drop kits include thick washers as spacers for your stock skids (and some aftermarket ones) to fit with the diff drop. My Low Range Offroad diff drop kit did.

I don't think I want to drop that diff again. Removing it and putting it back in took forever. My friend and I took four hours at the junkyard with the rusty 4Runner dropping rust flakes in our faces until it dropped out. Took my father and I half an hour on the garage floor to bench press it back in.

That stupid rear mounting cushion design pisses me the hell off... how ridiculous is it to put a damn stud on the differential that you have to tilt forward to get into the crossmember.

BTW - how's the ignition coming along?

Because the placebo effect is strong and it's a pain to install so they leave it in and adopt the motto "can't hurt to leave it there"

For future reference, how did that little starting mechanism come out of the ignition? I'm trying to imagine how I can start the truck in an emergency without my keys without hotwiring.

So consensus is I don't need it, but it doesn't hurt to have?

Pain to install? Took me like 10 minutes to take out the two bolts, slide in the spacers, and re-torque the bolts... It's not like you have to take the diff out or anything...

you don't have to remove the diff just undo the front mounts.

It doesn't hurt anything to put it in although some skids won't fit right. ITs really just not worth the effort or the money. Even its its cheap.

yeah the diff drop is more of a tilt than anything, it helped my angles a tiny bit but not worth the effort (and they're easy to put in). Only way to really correct my angles was to lower my lift a half an inch
