I’m still on stockers too, but if I ever get my kings rebuilt or replaced or something I’d like to take the spacer deal out and use them to their full potential, which means Ucas if I understand right.

What does caster effect again? Road manners?

Yeah it changes the leverage point essentially for the rack to turn the wheel or the wheel to turn the rack. Negative caster gets you poor road manners, positive makes the steering wheel the main influence. Also yeah you should have UCAs to use extended coilovers, again it has worked fine for me not to but I wouldn't just recommend that.

 

What seal did you use for your doors?

I went to Pick-n-Pull and got a less torn door seal out of a 5-lug.

 

Makes sense, I don't know why anyone on this site would take my thoughts anyway, I run a dreaded spacer lift up front and custom aftermarket leafsprings that way to heavy duty with 2 blown out billys on stock mounts. I'm like the model What Not To Do example.

 

I came to this forum with a 2WD PreRunner and came out with a fully loaded 4x4... and I'm moving to downtown San Francisco.

You people made me feel bad for having a PreRunner, so obviously making it 4x4 was the best solution. LOL.

I don't want to spend alot of money at the moment haha, about to go on a month long camping trip and want to have something in my account to come back to.

Nothing wrong with billys, mine have just been blown for like a year and a half.

So when did the general consensus change from the diff drops helping out the first gen guys but not the second gen guys? Just curious, I’ve always read that it does actually help us because it is more of a drop (even if only in the front). I guess my homemade drop wasn’t needed after all haha.

 

Think about it, your suspension still moves through the same range of motion that it does stock. Upper limit and lower limit are the same (could be SLIGHTLY different with ext travel coilers and upper arms). A lift only pushes your control arms further down at ride height. You have less droop and more compression, instead of the same amount of each. Dropping the diff is moving it out of sync with your suspension. If you compress your suspension fully, you will actually be over extending the cv when in full compression. Like mentioned by many others, if it only changes the angle by 1/4", it probably won't affect the upper limit either. The only thing you gain is having the CVs at less of an angle under normal day-to-day driving.

It really doesn't make sense to me. Same goes for questions like "How much lift do I need to fit XX inch tire?" You don't have any more clearance than stock unless you do a body lift or extended travel control arms.

On the diff drop...removed mine cause it was forcing my diff to rest on the all pro skids. Was taking to tyler pelfrey when we were hanging at the brewerey meet and he said all the diff drop with my set up, and most for that matter will only do one thing, risk going into the oil pan. Break a cv or boot, or an oil pan...i choose cv.
