So as long as those O2 sensors are still there, OP should be fine eliminating those two rearward cats.

73% of information and statistics on the internet are made up, so it's probably wrong.

If the truck is hot and gets into closed loop and the cat is not hot enough because the rear one is gone, your going to get a code...

I would imagine there is some dependency there...

I'm going to say no, since URD sells a shit load of Y pipes. If that was an issue, they would have changed something by now.

My guess is he removed the sensors or damaged the wires on accident. That's the only thing that makes sense here.

Not true. I have my rear cats removed and no CEL, no O2 spacer or simulator either. If I understand things correctly, the point of the secondary sensor is just to detect AFR, which will not change to outside of the ''acceptable" parameters from removing one set of cats because one cat per side is plenty to combust any significant portion of leftover fuel. The first sensor detects airflow I believe and that one will be thrown off if you remove the primary cats. The secondary cats are basically useless, they just get the truck to the point where it emits less CO2/NOX during operation.

did the op put a pipe in place of the removed cats? or are they just cut right behind the sensor and flowing from there? I could see that causing an issue with the rear sensor, and or he ran it like that long enough to throw a code before he put the rest of the exhaust back on
