3rd Gen Mud Flaps - Best Options

Good to know! Would you mind taking some pics of how they look? Im thinking the large might be the best option. Lotsa dirt/gravel roads in summer, salt sand all winter.

 

They're regular. Maybe their website will have the measurements?

 

None with the 4x4 white stamp though.

 

Just to add my 2c here....
After much thread-reading I decided to go with the Plasticolors from Amazon- wanted something mostly flexible and cost was a big concern of mine.
Used the 11" option in the back, 9" in the front ($44 total), mounted them so they hang down 6.5" each.
about $4 in mounting hardware from HD (plastic spacers, bracket, couple longer screws) and some patience placing and measuring- they are on and look great.
Wanted to mount them "low profile" so they didn't protrude too much from the sides.

I'll post a pic tomorrow- super happy with them.

 

There aren't any of the oem type flaps with the 4x4 lettering. Those with it purchased the lettering stickers separately and then added them.

 

Is anyone running the common TRD Sema Pro T4R wheels with 265/70r17 and Rokblokz? Regular or XL? Looks like the regular might fit given the adjustment just trying to verify?

 

I bit and ordered the cheapest standard version of the rekgens. I'm sick of my stupid warped plasticolors. Will report once they arrive.

 

All you guys with the Rokblokz is there an issue with anything getting trapped behind the gap on the rear fender. I don’t like how there is gap I feel like dirt would just get trapped back there.

 

Doesn't that Gap just fall out? May just have to focus on it when washing it. I haven't got in any hardcore mud yet.

 

I have the large Rokbloz, some sand and dirt does get in the gap but I get the dirt and most of the sand, if not all of it out with a strong stream of water. I occasionally take the Rokblokz off to clean out the little sand that does get trapped. The little sand that does get trapped does bug me but the protection offered far out weighs the limited trapped sand issue.

 

I'm able to use a strong stream of water to get the dirt out but its sand that gets trapped in some of the small gaps

 

Here is what I decided to do recently. I was originally going to cut the stock mudflaps. But they just seemed to rigid. Felt like they'd rip right off if I scraped them over a rock. So I decided to give these a try:

Here's why.
* They are cheap. $23.50 shipped for all four.
* They do not have predrilled holes, which is a plus in my opinion. I can set them low or high.
* They are flexible. They feel like the first gen Tacoma mudflaps. Sturdy, but flexible.
* In all honesty, I am going to count on these ripping off in the first few off-road outings. Rocks out here in the west aren't kind to mudflaps. So going back to the first point, who cares? They were cheap. Expendable. I won't replace them with anything, if they rip off.

Negatives:
* I hate Rallyarmor seeing that every single boy racer in a Subaru sports them. Luckily, they make these with black logos.
* Install isn't straight forward, since you have to template using the stock mudflaps, and even then, the angle, height, etc. can be off. Luckily, you can drill and drill new holes to your pleasure. I elongated a couple of the mounting holes so I could fine tune the angle.
* The inner most mounting hole is the most difficult, because they are offset inward. You'll just have to do your best with that. Ideally, I would have fabbed some sort of spacer so that the flaps are perfectly flat. But it's not a big deal to me.

Overall, I'd get this again.

Don't mind the steps in the pics. They'll be replaced with step sliders soon. And my truck is dirty.

But seriously, RallyArmor makes a great product. They're really good, hard working people who take a lot of pride in what they do.

Anyways, they should be working on a Tacoma specific kit in the near future. I'm waiting on those.

 

Are you speculating on the specific kit or you know that for sure? Interested...

 

They look sweet good job on fitting the universal ones. I might pull off my factory ones and get a set of those!

Got the rekgens and replaced the plasticolors. Here's a few shots. We'll see how they hold up.

 

Tire size? Any life? Better coverage than stocks?

 

I never had the stock flaps, so I can't compare. Tires are stock size 265/70/16 falken wildpeaks

 

If you have a moment - i would love to see a picture of the attachment (inner) side of the flaps. Do the flaps stick out past the stock tires? Vaguely how much?
