I put them up for a really high asking price for what they need done. It would still be cheaper to buy my used ones and have them completely rebuilt than new ones but not by much. I would just keep looking if I were you.

Mine used to. I'll pay attention this evening when I drive it since I just put new body mounts in. Also boxed the frame so I'm sure that made a difference.

My 2 cents on the diff drop is if your fins are touching on your boots you should install one, if not don't worry. I've had one installed almost as long as I've had the truck. I didn't know any better back then but I doubt I need it.

Not sure if the axle holes sit exactly in the middle of a line drawn from front to rear mount but for arguments sake let's say it does. You lower the front 1" then your mid point becomes 1/2" lower.

I don't really think the fear of starving shit of oil is valid either. My diff only holds so much oil before it pukes out of the breather.

IMO,a diff drop serves a purpose. But that is a very narrowly defined purpose.

If you have a high speed (40-60 mph) vibration that shows up as a result of adding lift to the front, and the CV axle boot fins are touching slightly (probable cause of the new vibe), a 1" diff drop kit can help if you have no other means of lowering the lift enough to reduce that ride height axle angles.

Regarding oiling the pinion bearing in the front diff, this is a slinger setup anyway. Yes, angling up the ponion (by adding a diff drop kit) means the oil has to be slung further (higher) which has some potential of not getting enough up onto the pinion bearing. Also, the diff drop lowers the front of the diff so that also lowers the fill hole for the oil. The combination of these two things is something to consider and be aware of when choosing to add a diff drop kit.

Going out on a limb here, but anyone know what system this guy is using to attach that rear roof rack bar? looks like a great alternative to drilling holes :sawzall: spotted in Vancouver BCtacoma rack.jpg

Any tips for getting the drain plug on your front diff off? Just busted my 3/8-10mm Allen socket off trying to get it to bust loose with a breaker bar. 1/2” next? Heat?

I’m not sure if I have a chisel tip. Spinny motion or jacking motion?

Spinny motion, the cisle tip can essentially grab the edge of the plug and get it started spinning. You'll need a new plug for afterward though.

Good thing I have two of everything. Got it off having the air ratchet going as hard as it had and me giving it all 135 pounds of what I had. I always forget I have air tools haha thanks.

So while messing with my front diff fluid change I decided to take my front diff drop out and take some pics.

The top picture is with the diff drop I made removed and bolted back into factory position. The bottom is with the drop in. You can see in the top pic the middle fins are hitting pretty hard and on the bottom they have about a 1/8” gap in between them. Yeah it doesn’t change it much but I’d say it at least drops the cvs down about 3/8”, just enough to make the fins not rub.

I have Bilstien 5100s on the middle setting and 08 FJ coils which results in about 2 1/2”-2 3/4” lift

Switch to Busch Heavy and you’ll have more than 135 lbs. to throw behind it. Problem solved.

Never really realized just how much space is left on the table with the stock skid, taking away so much approach.

Good right now, was playing along really nicely today after I put the restrictor back in. Thinking meth injection will be the easiest solution to keep on keeping on. Ordered a wideband so I have a better idea of what's going on. I actually have my wheel off so I can reach in under it and make the support bracket mine was missing.
