In an interesting conversation that I still can't quite believe actually happened , my wife ( AKA Mrs You Don't Need Anymore Tools ) said that the Cuz-D flush saw would be a tool that would make sense for me to buy

    I just nodded

I was going to purchase one last year from one of the promotion guys (a co-worker) but the dealer was having issues with the patent (something to that effect) the deal fell through regardless. Its nice to see them back on the market. The saws are painted green to support vets.

Finished the remodel today. Got the door painted and hardware installed. I also went ahead and ran a piece of 1.5"X1.5"x 3/16s angle at the top and bottom of the door on the backside to help keep it from warping over time. IMG_6204.jpg

Any roofers in here that work with slate/metal/tile? I replaced my roof access this weekend because the original door was pretty much gone, the lead-dipped steel flashing was nearing the end of its useful life, and a bunch of slates were missing/wrong size/face nailed around it.

The only good use for a selfie stick.. And pay no attention to the commode in the background:rofl:

The white blur at the top is a piece of aluminum I slipped under the slates to divert water away from the hatch until I could get around to fixing it.

    roofb4.jpg

New curb is a 2x6 to give me a little more height to keep the new hatch door further off of the roof surface (maybe it will last longer?).. First time flashing with copper, used 16oz cold rolled, though it is still pretty rigid for hand forming. I will probably cover the new hatch door with lead so I can fold the corners a little easier.

Not perfect, but it doesn't leak and you can't even see it from the ground anyway.

Definitely. It will be a nice place for the lawn equipment during the winter as well.

It’s not much compared to all y’all do, but I had a good day today!

Hung that mirror over the stupid crooked sink/light debacle.
(I off set it between the two to lessen the visual appearance. Maybe one day we’ll gut it and do it right. Just not right now.

New cellular blinds arrived today so I hung them too.

Hung a vanity cabinet in the guest bath.

Hung a curtain rod and curtains.

    Changed out two sconce lights.

AND! Installed a new disposer! That was a first for me. Not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be!

Looks good! I think that's a fair amount of stuff to check off a To-Do list in 1 day.

I didn't really think of it that way, but I do suppose it does feel good! Im mostly thankful for finally having our own place again!

Moved 5 times in 8 months. Im over that shit! I did have some problems reconciling our good fortune with apartment living... Glad the Park Service was able to give us an apartment in Yose.
I hated our upstairs elephant-footed neighbor. I swear that dude ran laps in the hallway every evening. It was so bad, MY ceiling fan would rattle! And cooking on an electric range... ugh. And the wretched washing machine noise. Move to Zion... house to ourselves! But as luck would have it, its still government housing and we had the same noisy washing machine! Had to take time to remember that the NPS was able to provide us with these places so I didn't complain (too loudly) about it!

Now that we're in the new house, we're both glad to be able to put our own personal touches to it and make it feel like home. Our own mattress, our own sheets, a gas range (woot!) and finally!! a quiet washing machine!

And the evening views from the back porch aren't too bad either...

Got the shower glass put in. Finally. Turns out the space was too wide/tall for 3/8" glass without a frame so they had to go with 1/2". Heavy. And holy cow more expensive.

Lol. I guess I should say "so much more expensive going from 3/8 to 1/2"!

Local. Originally I had planned on doing it myself through this company:

    https://www.framelessshowerdoors.com/florida/

but with the shipping costs it would have been pretty close to the local cost, plus they install it.
