Haha no kidding. Didn’t know that.

I was looking on Alibaba earlier dreaming of importing the front clip of a Hilux/Prado with the turbodiesel 1KZ-TE engine and it also has the A340F. I saw the other pictures the seller had and the A340 was also found in Isuzu bobtail trucks. They seriously use the A340 in everything from sports cars to commercial vehicles.

That’s why I’m hoping it’s possible lol. Worst case scenario I see what can go from the built one to mine and call it a day. I’d be satisfied with just a built valve body

Yeah it's pretty versatile, some are geared a bit different but the basic case and design is the same. The Jeep one was called the AW4 but that just means Aisin-Warner and the Warner part was because they made a fused case for the trans and bellhousing together instead of separate bellhousings like the Japanese used. A weird slightly beefier version of it known as the A343 exists behind the 1FZ-FE in 80 series Land Cruisers too

Just to add to the confusion even different Toyota trucks had different A340E’s. The A340E on a Tundra has a longer tail section than the Tacoma. The A340E on a 4Runner has the same tail section as the Tundra. I found that the only vehicle with the same tail section as the 1st gen Tacoma A340E is a 1992 Lexus SC400. But it has a different driveshaft flange.

Even other Tacoma’s can’t use the same A340E. The 2nd gen 5-Lug 2WD’s also use the A340E, but the tail section and output shaft is very different.

There are tons of A340 series tranny’s. Not limited to the A340E, A340H, and A340F.

Are you looking for an A340E for your truck? I have one for sale from my truck. I did the 4WD conversion so I don’t need it.

I just love older Toyota’s. The style is so unique compared to today. I look at modern sedans and SUV’s and they all look the same. SUV’s are the worst offenders - they all have the same body shape and window shape it’s hard to differentiate them.

Good example is the Previa. It’s ugly as sin but it’s unique. And it has character.

I sat in traffic the other day and lamented that I won't always be able to buy 90s cars forever. I'll try for as long as I can but man it was a good era for weirdness, comfort, and value.

The 90’s was such a weird period of time in the car industry. Toyota along with other Japanese car makers were up on top with American car makers barely scraping by. Whole reason NUMMI existed was because of the joint venture between Toyota and General Motors.

The 90’s produced some ugly cars.

    Looking at you, Ford Taurus.

Got one more major one on my list before it just devolves into hedonistic dreams. I want an early 90s Tercel 5speed. It was the only car my Mom ever got that was new and she really loved it, but it had zero safety features to speak of so when I came along they sold it and got a Mercedes 190E. I want to build a nice Tercel to give her at some point

Tercel’s are great. My neighbor has a 1989 Tercel pushing 500,000 miles. I actually drove him to the tire shop the other day because the RL valve stem rotted out. Otherwise it still works.

I have one, I’m just trying to swap it with a build one or pull built up parts from one

    @turbodb

How this for idle trims haha

    15248109751586723039566919072729.jpg

    The oversized injector life

Also not that it matters particularly in your case but the LT has different mappings for load level so make sure you're checking your trims against the same conditions.

Post em up, just about to go for a drive since the air is cooler now and the highway doesn't have traffic moving slower than the speed limit
