Why is it that the Tacoma is the only vehicle the aftermarket programmers don't tune??

The ECU is not impossible to crack, and the ECU is not going to brick itself from being cracked either, in fact the tune is undetectable with a dealership scan tool as I have verified when I took my truck in for the CPS replacement. I have been running the tune for over a year now and its crazy how much more fun/just better the truck is with it FWTW. Funny thing is, the tune actually enables Atkinson mode to run a slightly larger percentage of the time, but with MUCH better AFR targets so the engine runs how its supposed to in Atkinson mode and makes a real amount of power, not just more noise.

And plus, for all that its only a $750 tune. In case anyone has a dissenting opinion of that statement, keep in mind that an 'average' tune for my Volvo 850R starts at around $1500 and goes into a couple grand easily for a custom tune. In this case, average means there is still a chance of grenading something since its not custom done. The OVTune and by extension, Matt Wilson of OVTune is an exemplary tuner and his work is spot on, which is why people usually take the most expensive Lexus cars to be tuned by him. OV is offering custom tunes as well for $150 for people who bought the tune and other mods, thats a killer deal in the tuning world.

Another point is, that there are other vehicles that can't be tuned either. The new Chevy duramax has yet to be cracked by the most skilled people in the industry. I'm afraid the days of ECU tuning are almost over.

Don't be! As long as there are computers there will be computer hackers. No system is completely fail-safe and eventually people will find their method of ingress and get to the inner workings.

Lol I actually missed that, thought the time stamp said 2018, not 2017. That makes a lot more sense, but
Nope, still plenty of info in it after I retract the first paragraph. Makes a lot more sense now that I notice the time stamp but all this stuff about ECUs being uncrackable is still not true.
