My point is you don’t need crawl control with a manual. You need it with an automatic transmission, otherwise you just ride the brakes the whole time when going down declines.

Yea, it baffles me, even a $13k one, or whatever the base corolla costs, has led standard. It’s nonsense Tacoma has halogen.

You know you can shift the auto directly into first and leave it there in s-mode... Right?

I shift into lower gears in s-mode all the time for descents.

Crawl control is active braking of the wheels independently of each other to maximize traction. You can't do that with the manual.

Your point is incorrect, Sir. Crawl control does more than what you think it does. Look it up. It aint just a gimmick. It flat out makes the truck more capable.

Yeah the only time I really use 5th is when going through small towns/back roads when 6th is just a bit too high for 35-40mph. Works fine.

If you have built in navigation into the head unit, the manufacturer is paying for data usage. If the only way you can get navigation is by plugging your phone into the head unit, then you're paying for the data usage.

I can pair a phone via bluetooth. The HU can read text messages when driving and will display when not moving. I can't voice reply though...I don't think.

Doesn't navigation use GPS, not data? I would assume that's why it works even when I'm in a remote area with no cell coverage.

IIRC that is what the manual says.

Weather and clock, depending on setting, use the HD radio signal so there may be areas where it can not retrieve the data to display those. With that said that data is free to all HD radio receivers I believe.

Instead of increasing the DWELL between wipes, it now increases the SPEED of the wipe times.

I wish auto dimming rear view mirrors were standard on all trims. It'll give up my GoPro mount for one.

I have never used Crawl Control myself so I can't say how well it works over a manual transmission directly. I've always been a manual transmission kinda wheeler and have my own thoughts on Crawl Control, but it would be interesting to see some head to head comparisons between two stock TRD Offroad DCSB 4x4 trucks, (one AT, one MT). Everything else being equal between the two trucks.

Get into some technical stuff where the use of Crawl Control actually IS the difference in whether the Automatic is able to continue up/down the trail or not.
Then see if the MT can make it through the same section or not. Do this on sand, mud, rocks, hills, etc... I think this would settle some armchair speculation for sure.

I've seen it first hand. I was stuck in snow with my MT, trying every method that I knew to get going on an incline. I eventually made it out after lots of rocking and spinning being as gentle as I could. The OR AT that was along was in similar shape until he fired up MTS / CC. That voodoo eased him out of the situation.

The only real difference between our trucks was that he was on stock Goodyears and I was on stock Toyos. That didn't seem to matter since we both go hung up at about the same spot and couldn't keep up momentum.

In the end, I still wouldn't give up my MT for it.

How about no go pro mount? If if they had it, no advertising their name on it. Throws off the entire feel of the interior.

Having a logo on an otherwise clean interior just ruins it for me. Let's be honest, it's just an advertisement for go pro.
