Hey Jake, are those Khakis you are wearing?

That rust looks worse than mine.

I have done nothing to my 09 and no frame goo applied with 189k miles in the rust belt of Mass.

Pressure wash as good as you can let dry thoroughly and Fluid Film that thing! It's the best undercoating you can use. I reapply about every other year.

I just bought a gallon of Fluid Film. I'm about to take the bed off and coat it with FF. Then FF the rest of the underbody/frame rails. then possible the engine - keeping it off the belts of course. I'm also going to try to get FF inside the frame rails. Should be fun!

Anyone that posted in here that does not live in the Rust belt should not be commenting. You know nothing about rust and when to worry. Period.
That frame doesn't LOOK bad at all. But it's not a 20k rig.

Drop bracket lift. Buying a truck with one installed is not advisable.

    Rust isn’t bad.

Sanding paint off of the frame in that case is stupid, and counterproductive. Wash down the rusted areas with an old sponge, and let dry, and then brush on some product like Corroseal or some other converter product, repeat a day or so later in the same areas, and them treaty with a Krown type materials. Repeat each fall. Touch up each re-rusted spots each Spring. It isn't a one time job in the rust belt, but can absolutely be controlled with that system. I know because that is what i do.

You live in Vegas, have you ever seen anything past surface rust? It's almost like taking advice from a southerner about driving in the snow. Our take on a Rusty frame is a lot different then the rest of the country's. That being said did you miss the part where I also said it's not a 20k truck?

Yes I have,I have owned 2 trucks from the rust belt, and if I were too purchase another truck and still lived in a rust belt state,I would find a southwest truck, buy it and drive it back, way better than buy from the rust belt.

It's difficult enough to find a nice 2nd gen anywhere in the states , but you are saying you would drive 15- 30 hrs ( or even fly, ha), take up a entire weekend and/or take off work to buy a 20K used truck. Crazy talk.

I live in Oregon, so throw shit at me if you want. It really doesn't look that bad, probably not worth 20k. I bought mine all stock so I could personalize the way I intended. The drop bracket lift with the stock struts would not personally be on my list.

Theoretically these frame fail from the inside out, my frame was pretty much spotless in the outside and developed a hole in it....

If it was a 2010 I’d consider it, due to the warranty enhancement
