Ditched work early today. Got home and decided to dig into the truck. I was headed down the right path with the wheel bearing issue. Found the problem.... yes. Shit has been lock tighted and torqued and marked. Also did the driver side. I’m a moron.

Yeah the top two bolts came loose. Bottom two were still torque. There was hardly any play with the top two loose. They are still just fine. My pride is more hurt.

Nah, I got close to that level of stupid but not quite there. At least I stopped driving my truck immediately when it started making a new sound I couldn’t identify that I knew wasn’t right. The cv axle total would hold it in right? Those don’t just pop out. Hahahaha that could have been bad.

Saw another report of someone having theirs get loose, so you aren't the only one. Your bearings are most likely OK.

The loose bolts would probably rattle out all the way. Once in 4x the tire would try to walk away looking like the guys that break spindles. Worst case scenario.

    Whole lotta stuff
Speaking of unidentified noises. Anyone have the scoop on a driveline noise/small vibration from 5-25mph. I know it's definitely rotational and it feels front end. Since I'm brand new to 4WD I'm not certain of what I'm dealing with. I have heard of the needle bearing for second gens but I haven't been able to do my research. I don't recall it doing this until after I had Toyota switch out all the driveline fluids.o_O

Yeah the bottom two were still tight. I regreased the bearings and everything was still tight so meh, it’s fine. They are a wear and tear item anyways so at worse I took a little life out of it.

Does the vibration go away when you put it in 4wd?? If so then the it's the needle bearing I believe. If not then it is in the drive line, carrier bearing or u joints.

Solo night run yesterday was cool...except the one Hella light that was working decided not to anymore so I'm just going to rip them out and start new with the LEDs I have coming in a few days, they'll be brighter anyway. Maybe mount the Hellas on the opposite side of the roof rack facing reverse if I can get them to work again.

Did something to my boost gauge racing down the mountain to where it sometimes won't work now, and I threw a code for a bad O2 sensor....fun

    THIS:

If it's the needle bearing it will instantly stop if you engage 4WD on a straight section of pavement. However, I think for most people the needle bearing noise comes in at a higher MPH, so it may or may not be the needle bearing . Mine came in at 30-40MPH.

You all are more the experts than I on the topic. I am still trying to chase mine down. Considering I am 2wd and only have the one drive line. I have the carrier bearing drop from ome, but probably needs a 2nd one and the axle shims. Throwing money at it right now isn't a option. Lol

Kyle I think you need to buy Mike a torque wrench and teach him how to use it, your guy's trucks are gonna fall apart driving down pavement some day. Mike was checking and tightening bolts every other time we stopped in Utah. :p
