Tires rubbing on UCA

I had been reading some threads and was under the impression that 275/70r17 would fit on my 2013 tacoma. I have 1.75in bilstein 5100 adjustable in the front and the tires are sitting super close to the uca and also rub bad on turns. I'm on the stock 2013 TRD sport rim. If I drop down to a 265/70r17 will that fix my problem?

 

What does your alignment look like ?

Well what are the numbers on the alignment ? What’s the castor ?

 

When I lifted my truck I had to get spacers to keep my tires from rubbing on my UCAs, and I have 255s. Idk if second gens have similar issues, but the spacers fixed them.

 

Factory UCAs? Aftermarket UCAs will give you a touch more clearance, and you’ll want a wheel with more of a negative offset

 

I do not know the numbers on the alignment or castor or what that is to be honest.

I'm trying to avoid spacers heard too much negative about them.

As for the wheel what is the stock offset and what should I be looking to get as far as a negative offset.

 

The biggest tire you can fit on a stock rim without spacers, aftermarket UCA, or trimming is the 265/70r17.

That would do it too. Proper Backspace is your friend.

 

So if I get a new set of wheels with more negative offset I should be okay with these tires? Correct? How much of a difference is between the sizes? I love the height and look of this

 

You could cab mount cop and get some spidetrax, I'm on OR rim so they 16 but that worked for me.

 

It's not hitting plastic or cab just the UCA.

 

Then I'd look into a spacer if you aren't looking to spend the $$ on new rims. Bora and spridertrax are the best brands around with the guys that run them, stay away from that lugcentric eBay shit. They break.

Torque properly and you can forget about them. The studs will stick out a little but your factory alloys should have a little pocket between each lug hole.

 

When I go up to that size, I’ll be running FJ Cruiser Wheels. They have 4.5” back space. They clear the uca.

 

Spacers SUCK. Get a 0 offset rim. Period.

They are another connection between wheel and hub, which isn't optimal. Another failure point. I see lots of people eventually ditching them. Etc. Etc. Do it right and get the right offset on rims and avoid them.

 

I ran spacers with an old set of rims for a while and I didn’t like how it rode and was sketched the f out by having one fail while driving. Bought a set of rims with 4” of backspacing (-10 offset) and zero issues
