hey dude, I believe you. The first time I saw something insane I had two friends with me. We had maybe two drinks, and my roommate got home and told us we were insane. Then it came back again and my roomate was like "OK I'm with you guys WTF is that". It was just after sunset, looking out over the horizon, and a giant red circle just appeared abotu 10 degrees above the ocean. Like a little, fire truck red sun. It start slowing move UP for about 10 mins and went from 10 - 30 degrees up and just turned off. Like a light bulb.

When it came back teh second time it went up again, then turned and started going back down to where it started. Very slow and deliberate. Much larger than any plane or aircraft would be. who tf knows what it was.

I also saw a group of 5 red lights going in circles around an observatory on top of the mountain by my house. I've talked to a few friends who saw the same thing the same night, again was right at sunset when everyone was driving home.

Big difference between centuries of research and scientific evidence versus religions based on fearmongering that if you're not a good boy you'll pay for it later.

Hey, if you watch enough acient aliens you'll start to believe "visitors" could be the reason for religious bases over the last few thousand years

I used an atheist as an example of faith in something you can't prove.

    This is about aliens.

No research and scientific evidence yet.

Understood, I'm not trying to argue with you. I just hate when science and religion are compared as equals. One was practiced to control people, the other to liberate them.

40 billion possibilities in the Milky Way ALONE. Just saying there is some evidence.

I'm not arguing either, I just used that as an example of blind faith which everyone has to a degree.

And I am fully aware that the number of possible planets is staggering, but the key word is possible.

No one can be proven right or wrong when the nearest possibility is 25,000,000,000,000 miles away (Alpha Centauri system may have planet in the Goldilocks zone, 4.2 light years away) until someone gets there.

    Or they come here :D

This is a cool video of a potentially possible in our lifetime warp drive that may get us out there

New episode of Ancient Aliens tonight!!! I probably watch more Ancient Aliens than most people. I hate to admit it but I spend a fair amount of time swearing at the tv when it is on. I would really like to believe that aliens exist but if those are the most credible guys.... shit.

We evolved on a planet of a certain age in the Goldilocks zone of a star of a certain type. That's the proof that it can happen. You don't need a dude in a spaceship for proof. We're it. It can happen elsewhere, because it happened here.

What happens here is certainly not PROOF of what's there.

It is again proof of possibility, not certainty.

Exactly. Proof that it is possible. So at best you can be agnostic about it. It can't be said with 100% certainty that there is or isn't, which is more than,"nope. I havent seen it so it's not real." That's a rabbit hole we won't go down.

And then there's Agnostics, the ones who need proof and are on board, but what justifies something as "Proof" etc? I ask myself so many questions its insane, I can't justify any of them. We are a self centered race, we aren't ready for what lies ahead, very few of us are open to a new experience. You multiply the fact we are self centered by stating "as long as it doesn't affect my direct deposit", No offence at all towards that statement, sorry if it seems that way, I can understand. Quote J. Cole about human selfishness and the reliance on currency for anything in this "life", "Can't take it when you die, but you can't live without it" - "ATM" - J. Cole. All I understand is our governments know more then we do and are willing to put lives down for profit, hence the reliance of money for EVERYTHING we do as a society.

I never stated an opinion one way or another, actually said that I didn't care one way or the other.

I pointed out that it was odd that so many will say Yep to one thing and Nope to another with the same amount of verifiable evidence for either.

    Sarcasm/levity.

Any society that is developed enough to master interstellar travel is smart enough to see that we are sentient beings and they aren't going to wipe us out because of how we treat our planet. They have absolutely no use for our planet or it's resources. Traveling between the stars means they have achieved a level of technology where they can simply deconstruct asteroids and uninhabited planets and make whatever materials they need. When you have that ability, you don't risk conflict or potential biological contamination just to fight someone. The only issue we might have with aliens coming down to Earth is if they real enjoy the anal probing they do to people in the woods.
ALH 84001 - a meteorite from Mars that was found in Antarctica looks to have deposits in it that could have been created by bacteria. There are a few theories on how it could have formed, but it's testable evidence of alien life. The "belief" in alien life is based on mathematics and scientific observation. The belief in a supreme being is simply down to faith. Thee is no quantifiable testable way to prove or disprove a supreme being unless we all see him walk down from a cloud. But then, how do we know that's not just an alien punking us?

It's a common trope in SciFi but a good read is In The Ocean Of Night by Gregory Benford

TL/DR Humanity is discovered by an AI race because of all our broadcasting. The AI race exterminates any life it finds because biological life is too unpredictable and doesn't follow logic. Humans are next on the list.

Also, the Beserker series by Fred Saberhagan is a great read.

There is still a lot of controversy over the Allan Hills meteorite.

We're unpredictable for a reason, if we weren't, we wouldn't have lasted this long.

How can you not believe? Even Jesus was a hybrid since God is an ET. If you don’t believe in God and are an atheist then where did we come from....? Aliens, my friend.
