Which 33s? I'm also considering the 255/85/16s but don't want to add too much weight.

That is the 33" I would run. 255's are awesome.
Find a light 255/85 like the goodyear or falken tires

    What lift r you running?

None right now and don't plan to. I've have seen on here that most people can fit the 255 without rubbing. In all honesty I'll probably end up with the 265/75 falkens though because of the price and lower weight.

Wide rubber = big weight. 255's work amazing on and offroad and get noticeable better mpg

Yeah, kind of screwed the pooch on the ECU calibration. My truck burned nasty overly rich crap from the exhaust before I was tuned - probably b/c they run these super-rich for reliability IDK but it was NOT good for the environment. Tuned it doesn't run lean but it's not smothering the engine in more fuel than there is air to burn all the time either.

Reminds me of ECT... Per the owners manual, ECT is a more aggressive mode that will negatively impact efficiency/MPGs. Even stock I saw about the same MPGs with ECT on despite the throttle and shift points being more aggressive. Now, even tuned I see about the same MPGs (and ECT is even MORE aggressive on the tune). None of it really adds up

Grateful to have the tune available to us though. It was nearly a year after I bought my truck before the tune was available... now folks can just do it when they buy and never know the frustration of the busy shifting and stupid transmission learning!

Which is another thing... the transmission learning will always work its way to the most conservative shift map possible. Meaning its gonna try to get you to 6th gear as fast as possible, then you need to accelerate and you're downshifting then you hit a hill and it downshifts again.. all that shifting in my experience is just as bad on MPGs as driving the truck in 4th all the time.

I am not good at all on computers. don't even know how to use my phone to play music on truck radio. I know me trying to do this will not work but I want the ov tune on my new 18 pro. My truck runs good now but reading everything about the ov tune sounds it will be lot better. I have no issue paying for tune but who or how can I get installed and is it a button or does something just get plugged into my truck and downloaded and that is it and I just drive it like It is stock and I don't need to do anything?

So the tune is a pain in the ass to setup where you need to email files back and forth to admin. With that said...the community is here to talk you trough it all and if it got to it im sure someone could call you and walk you through it we are all here to help. All you need is a laptop that has 2 usb ports or a laptop with one and a usb splitter. The rest you get in mail. Just one cord plugs into computer to truck. The hardest part is not flashing its initially downloding the software to your PC and registering it. But you can do it I wouldnt stress.

And yes once its all setup all you do is click on a file, it takes 30 seconds to upload into your truck and its all done.

This looks like a good thread...just from headline and immediate comment. Sounds like a F, Marry Kill argument. Continue on, I'll catch up

Yes it is a fmk. But also I think there could be a good discussion on gearing vs tuning and who likes what better. But ya stay “tuned”

Maybe a stupid question. Is ovtune “resellable” if you don’t want it later or selling the truck, like sspv2?

You can sell hardware and new owner has to pay for license. I think its 300$ or so.

Yeah from the few ppl who have sold their kits so far, looks like they are getting right around 50% of their money back (new tune W/ kit =769, license alone is ~325 IIRC).

Edit - excluding variables such as taxes/shipping etc.

Hey guys, excuse my ignorance but has anyone regeared with stock tires/suspension. Theoretically it should be a torque multiplier.

I can see an A/T guy doing that, with the deep O/D ratios and 3.909 axles. I think it would be overkill on a stock M/T though, as even after 4.88's an automatic truck is still not geared as low as a stock manual!

I turn ~2000 rpm at 60 in 6th as it is, completely stock (except for OVtune).
