Hi All,
I think this is the right place to ask this and if not apologies.

I have just acquired my first truck, a 2016 Tacoma SR5 V6 4X4. The purpose of this is to serve as a general adventure vehicle for camping, hunting and fishing trips, particularly to the mountains of NC and VA.

I am looking to do a few upgrades for this. On the list is to have a winch installed.

I write to ask who is good in the general Triangle area to do this kind of work?

Mod day! Find what bumper you like and a good winch you think will suit your needs

 

@voz is pretty proficient now. Most of us here will say DIY. Order what you want from a TW supported vendor and get a discount too. What else are you thinking other than a winch, and remember it's just money.

 

Another lift done and now I get to work on my truck tomorrow, new rear brakes. Let's see how long the expensive Bendix shoes ($40) last over the cheap advance wearever ones ($26 45k).

 

You must actually keep your rear brakes adjusted properly or have ridden with the e-brake on a few times

 

Or the cheap wearever brand are shit for offroad. Also yes I use my e-brake, I'm not a southerner

@voz...I assume from this that you are the man for truck work?

In terms of other mods, at this point I am already having a Diamondback HD cover put in (with one of those mesh screens to protect my rear window). I'd like to put in some kind of roof rack. Eventually when I wear down the current tires I'll really want to put some thought into them. I may at that point make some tweaks to make it a more credible off-roader. Maybe put in stuff like Bilstein shocks, etc.

I am still on the fence about a further lift. Maybe a few inches.

I may also look into some mods for SHTF (and I am all ears for any ideas folks have).

In a few years when my son gets well into teendom, I'm sure the stereo will become a point of focus.

Any recommendations for a winch?

You'll get everything from Xbull on eBay (a decent choice) to the most expensive Come Up with Badlands, Smittybilt, and Warn in there as well. It really comes down to how much you want to spend, they all work. Go with synthetic line, your hands will thank you.
