Almost, 1 through 4 would be lower but 5 and 6 would still be longer gears than the stock manual. It is very interesting that Toyota went with such deep overdrive on the auto.

    Agreed, that's what I was referring to - 5th and 6th.

Hours later and I'm still amazed at what a huge difference there is between the overdrives, with no dropping fuel economy right?

Edit: I just checked and the auto claims a couple more highway mpg, but I wonder how it is IRL. I get between 19 and 24 highway depending on the day with my auto.

I can tell you that the best highway mileage trip average I've seen on my V6 4X4 M/T is 22 (~200 miles). I also had to be really easy on it and drive in the 60 - 65 mph range to achieve this. I was on the stock tune at the time and was still running the factory OR tires (Goodyear Adventure).
The M/T's sweet spot for mpgs is ~45-50 Mph - in other words, below 2000 rpm in 6th. I've done a few mileage loops to see what the truck was capable of, and over a distance of approx 45 miles I was able to get 28.6. Understand that this is not a real world figure, I had to employ some "hypermiling" techniques to get there (and traffic was good to me on that day). My daily commute usually nets about 19-20 with a mix of back roads, some stop and go and a short stint on the highway.

That's the only thing stopping me for buying the tune it's to complicated with all the down loading and laptop stuff. If it was a simple power programmer I would jump on it

That be my case. Running stock tire size and 4.88's on my DCSB OR AT V6 with SSP for towing. No OVTune, yet. Truck is night and day better than stock. Still average 22mpg city and have plenty of response if you use the flat pad. Will go through this season towing 1400lb camper and then consider OVT.

Good to know ssp has done what you need it to do! Its a great option for the 185$ fix. You can pick them up for 125$ used

DCBS AT 6” lift, 33’s and 4.88 gears. I have not opted for the OVTune due to waiting for others impressions. I’ve always been a gear first type of person, and happy with the way the truck behaves now. I’m more than happy.

I did gears first but boy the performance increase with gears + tune is very nice. But if your happy then no reason to get it. For me this was my biggest complaint and now I absolutely love my truck with no complaints

Did your gas mileage stay the same or improve after the gear change?

Nope my MPGs actually improved, the tube enables Atkinson cycle to operate more often, but for a variety of reasons it ALSO makes more power. It really is a great product as the OP said
