I stayed for hurricane Ike even though I was told to evacuate. After the storm I had to get to my parents house in a hurry. There roof was torn off and they needed help gutting the house. I drove my poor 08 double cab through about 3 to 3.5 feet of water for about 2 blocks. The truck handled it like a champ! I'm putting my 3" lift on this week now that I have power and running water. I'm also looking into a snorkle kit. The only damage I got was a small dent and a big scratch from flying debris and 8ft of my fence went MIA. I got lucky considering I was on the "dirty side" of the storm. Next time I'm getting a hotel room in Austin for at least a week.

My wifes 4runner got a scratch down the side from my neighbors gutter. So I'm going to see if I can claim both damages and only pay 1 deductable.

The first thing I’d do is have all the wheel bearings repacked. Then I’d lube the drive shafts etc. – every lube point. These trucks are not designed to be driven through water.

^Good points. And now would be a good time to think about a breather extension, too.

Happy to know you and your family are unharmed:) ALSO nice to hear a GOOD story about a new Tacoma! That truck will be part of the family before long just because of situations like this.

Glad to hear you made it through OK. Ike passed through PA on Monday night. It wasn't a hurricane anymore, but still did some damage. The county I live in is in a State of Emergency because of power loss. The power went out Sunday night and for many, hasn't come back on yet.

Not to mention changing the rear diff fluid since it's not extended like the front breathers, and being on top of the pumpkin means it was probably under water for 2 blocks. Water probably got sucked in around the seals and is ruining your diff fluid.

Glad to know you made it though and everyone is safe!

Oh, and no one makes a snorkel for the 05+ models. You'll have to custom make one if that's what you want.

It's stated in the title and I read through the installation. That is a model for a different vehicle that has been modified. Under the parts included list was a list of additional parts/supplies needed to make that snorkel fit an 05+ Tacoma. Good to know it can be done though.
