Okay, so I'm getting ready to order a set of off-the-shelf 5160s from @HeadStrong Off-Road. However, I have found references to 5165s actually being what the factory shocks are derived from. Bilstein's page says that "The 5165 features identical performance to the 5160 Series, and is available in a selection of lengths and valvings for use on modified or specialty vehicle applications. So are 5160s just off-the-shelf and the 5165's are special order? If so, I'll order up the 5160s for installation in June.

For the fronts, am I correct that they are TRD modified 5100s? If so, would these be the off-the-shelf version: https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p448/Bilstein_5100_Adjustable_Front_Struts_(Pair)_-_24-239370_for_05-15_Toyota_Tacoma.html

Are the snap-ring locations the same as the factory Baja front shocks? Assuming that these are a direct replacment, would I be able to use a higher snap-ring groove to add a little height to the front? Mine are factory set at the first (bottom) groove on the passenger side, and the second groove on the driver side - presumably to cure Taco lean.

6112s for the front, and the factory version only has the two grooves to level side to side. The 6112s should have 4 grooves just like 5100s do.

So if the off-the-shelf 6112s have 4 grooves, can they be adjusted higher?

It looks like the 6112 part number always includes springs. Are the shock bodies available alone under a different part number? I plan to keep my Baja coils, and just want to replace the dampers.

That color is tits. If I didn’t have a history of owning red trucks I would consider this color.

I got an email back from Bilstein: "Our 6112 kits are only sold as kits. The shocks are not sold separately at this time."

So, I either go with factory replacements or buy a 6112 kit and scrap the springs that come with it.

If I had a regular OR or lesser model, I would have already gone with Kings, 33"-plus tires, trimming, chops, etc. However, since I bought a somewhat rare edition truck, I want to try to keep the major parts of what makes my Baja a Baja. With the exception of weak back leafs, it performs very well - and that was easily fixed with a single add-a-leaf. I want to keep the factory coils, and am only considering non-factory shock replacements due to corrosion issues.

Pretty much the same. Still have the original rear shocks but replacing them soon as we have already discussed.
Pulled of the side decals except for the T/X when I paid it off. Never liked the look of the black on black decals and later i found out some Bajas didn't even have the decals.

I will probably de-badge the truck but I will KEEP the read TRD emblem.

Looking back I would say the same but money is long gone and paid the truck off 2-3 years early so I saved on the interest.

Also plan on keeping the stock rims after another discussion on 35" with 7.5" wide rims since the Baja has the "special" color of rims.
Need to pick up a 5th for the spare.
