Watching them get old is always hard for me. I'm going to the vet tomorrow for my guy about his over grooming. Looked at a few home-visit vets but they were all booked for several weeks out. There's less trauma for the critters to be seen at home, especially since my little dipshit doesn't even like going outside, let alone getting in a kennel or car. None of the vets I talked to seemed concerned when I told them the symptoms, but did advise that I see a vet as soon as possible.
    Hoping it goes well.

Mine is usually pissed off that he is so fluffy. Constantly grooming himself, I am pretty sure it tickles the crap out of him. We have shaved him a few times and it solved it somewhat, but then it starts to itch when it comes in and he the begins to scratch at himself. If you kitty isn't having digestive issues, vomiting hair balls, pooping hair clumps, or worse causing a blockage, he should be ok. Good luck, I would be curios to know what the vet says.:cheers:

Overgrooming is usually a symptom of another issue. The bad part, as others have mentioned is that cats are really good at hiding any pain or discomfort. You only know it's bad when they groom themselves to the point where they have bald patches and can even groom to the point that they break the skin and develop what looks like a rash- really it's that they've licked them selves to the point that they actually break down the skin. That's where I'm at with my cat so I know it's bad. Just don't know how bad till the blood work comes back.

    Damn! That's crazy.

Hope it's nothing serious. Maybe it's just stress/food he's eating.

    Abigail did that.

Fortunately for us it was either the following:

    A: Stella & Chewy's Freeze Dried Food
B: Stress medicine we were giving her.

We stopped giving her the food but then stopped giving her the stress medicine (she wasn't herself on it) and she stopped overgrooming and the fur started to grow back. It's not 100% back but for a 15-16 year old cat it takes time to grow.

Those Siamese cats are so cool looking. I was told they are more vocal than most other breeds. Is there any truth to that?

My Harry (the youngest one) still has a kitten meow. At 9 months I don’t think he’s getting much bigger. My daughter is infatuated with him & loves that he’s still a “little” cat compared to Ollie.
Ollie on the other hand has the weirdest meow, it’s more of a broken howl... I gotta get it on video. He sounds like he’s missing something.

Cheech has a good meow. Mostly when hes giving me shit when Im getting home from being away for a few days.
Rocky seems to communicate with me through hissing still lol. When he sees me, usually before I see him, he'll just let out a hiss. Then I hiss back and he comes over for a good pet.
Pretty funny actually cause Im the only one he does this to.

It’s hit and miss with them. Suki hardly makes a peep. Sometimes her mouth opens and nothing comes out. Louisa, on the other hand, just will never shut up! We’re not so much the , “we have to have a Siamese” type people. We adopted one that was a 6 week old stray kitten and she ended up being the best cat ever imaginable. When she passed we were both deveststed. When we were ready to adopt again we started thinking that these Siamese things are pretty cool. After we adopted suki we realized that the one we had before was an anomaly. Suki and Louisa certainly aren’t like Maxie but love them just as much for different reasons.

Our little guy Domino scarfs up dry food just as well, if not MORE after we had to have all his teeth removed. He's obviously happier without teeth-go figure. I feel they were causing a lot of pain and that's why. We give him this dry food by Halo and he loves it. Halo is good stuff. 13 years old and he still bolts down the halls and stuff like he did when he was way younger.

Good to hear. I hope Cheech fairs just as well.

Me too! These little guys are pretty resilient to a fault. That fault being they hide pain too damn well often leaving you with not much to act upon. But you may find, like we did, that having those bad teeth removed may improve Cheech's behavior which is a clear sign things got better. But man they do hide that pain though.
