I'm happy with my mileage. Better than my 4 banger Taco and twice the power.

Nope, 2018 TRD Sport M6 4X4 and the picture was taken with about 120 miles on a highway trip running around 60mph and on small rolling type hills.

Our car gets 34-36 mpg. the timing and the turbo has really been tweaked for optimum mpg. It requires premium. Last fill up was 51 and change

Last truck fill up was 47 and change.

The range on the car and the truck are about the same: between 370 and 400 on the highway. So, all in all, my gas guzzler is sometimes cheaper to operate.

It's 2018 and the technology is there (has been) to have double the MPG easily... that would cut your gas budget in half (whatever your gas budget is). Greed of whomever (be it oil companies, bureaucrats, what have you) has made sure that the technology is buried. I think that's what irks me more than anything. It's not that I can't afford to fill my tank with however much fuel I use. Even people that have money to throw away doesn't mean they want to... they want to keep as much money in their pockets as they can, just like us.

The only tech that would do that is pure battery. There is no hidden tech. #physics.

So a Ford with a V-8 can get 30 MPG and my 4.0 only gets 15-16 which is the same as I got in my 1992 3.4L 4x4 XCab that had 220k miles on the original motor?
A Cummins 6L Diesel will also get far more also.

Please show me a 4600 lb V8 Ford 4WD (same weight as Tacoma) that really gets 30 mpg driving in your style over your terrain. It physically cannot happen with an ICE engine and a 4600 lb brick with extended losses of 4WD. Yes, there are a few diesels that can do it but not a 6.0. If you can stand a 20 second 0-60 time haha. Again, there is no hidden tech. Our trucks get around 20 mpg on highway.
