    Leer camper, bug-rug, fox suspension 2.0 rear, fox 2.5 front, BAMF sliders and LCA, TRD fake 3 piece rims
    Kool it from lubegard - car odor was a lot better it had a nice crispy odor for about 2 weeks. After that it was back to mormal. My Tacoma never had a foul odor but I figured I will clean out the evaoeevapo since I don't think it's ever been done. Easy 15 minutes and only 13 dollars.

    I towed my ‘06 Honda Civic home and it was pushing a couple hundred pounds over the 3,500 capacity of the 2RZ/3RZ four cylinder engines with the curb weight of the car and of the tow dolly.

    I’ve never towed anything beforehand, and I’ll be honest I couldn’t notice any kind of sluggishness or anything. I didn’t feel like I was towing anything, the truck handled fine. I kept Overdrive off, used ETC when I needed it, and kept plenty of room to stop. Tundra brakes on the front and surge brakes on the trailer helped to stop as well.

    I towed it about a hundred miles from right outside of Sacramento, CA to near San Jose, CA. There were a couple steep grades along the way, but ETC helped me maintain 60 MPH.

    Saved a couple hundred bucks on a tow. Plus I got to tow something for fun. To be perfectly honest I could’ve just driven the Civic home but I wanted an excuse to tow a trailer.

    I was about to tow my 5-lug home, but I didn’t feel like disconnecting the driveshaft since it’s RWD to tow it on a dolly so my friend with a Tahoe offered to tow it for me on a flatbed trailer.

    Observing the fuel trims today was fascinating. It was interesting seeing negative trims. The largest minus number I saw was a 10% on the short term side. The highest positive short term I saw was 5%. The long term numbers varied a lot less.

    Since some folks seem to be in favor of me doing my own CV Reboot, anything I should keep in mind? I watched Timmy's video on it and it seems like a pretty straightforward (but messy) job. My experience level is: none. I've never done front end work before.

    It certainly appears as tho this is true. Good to know.

    In playing with XGauge codes I tried one that was marked horsepower. First off, I was a bit surprised that it worked. Many don't. You can see the HPR readout in the pics above. I am wondering how the ECU can even determine how much HP is being produced at any given moment. Any insights?

    My Bank1 is about that (and similar ranges). It's Bank2 that's not. I'm going to replace the plugs here in the next couple days, and it'll be interesting to swap diagnostic readers when we can!

    It's a guess based on MAF intake and engine response, you can tune it somehow too to get it more accurate

    I should mention it is a guess by the ScanGauge not the ECU although some cars do have ECU pids for it... Maybe yours is ECU.

    Where did you read that, just by knowing the engine displacement and reading the MAF flow you can calculate approximate HP for an ideal burn. I don't think our ECUs have any accelerometers or any idea of what they weigh. Def no knowledge of any output ratio (we kinda fuck with those what with gearing and such). Our ECUs are the modern day equivalent of an abacus and sand drawings.

    Yeah, it will be very interesting to compare the behavior of the two different applications. Afterall, it is just interpretation of the same data...right?


    I was a little surprised by this from this is afternoon. It is WOT in 2nd gear approaching the redline. Even so, 214 HP is surprising. Isn't 190 claimed for the 5VZFE?

    Not sure this is true. How does the computer or the scangauge know the weight or the gear ratio on the truck.

    Just guessing here, but if we assume there is truth to this, it could be going off of what the truck came with stock. This could help explain why your HP read is higher than the engine's rating when new. The altered weight and gearing could be throwing it off.

    Total guess. I have no basis for this at all.

    i assumed it worked the same as the hp calculator in torque pro. it has a built in accelerometer

    Oh, yeah torque does it's own magic, it's GPS helps it a lot when it comes to this measurement.

    Little off topic but cleaned and reorganized my garage. Next step will be pully system for the rtt and the shell, but fuck im stoked to have the taco in the garage again!
