I wish there were more choices on models with manual. I wonder if 19 will add or delete

I believe they are going to eventually phase out the MT's. Thats atleast what it looks lile to me. You used to be able to get a dcsb sr5 with a manual but they changed that in 17.

I doubt they'll add any back, unless they come out with a new 4cyl. I don't see that happening, and I'll be surprised if they don't eventually ax it from the v6s.

I'm really glad I got my 2017, because I have a feeling Toyota is done making 4cyl 4x4 manual trucks, at least in the US.

Haven't really been interested in buying a new Tacoma since they discontinued the 2.7L 5spd. Should have bought one back in 2010 when they were under $30k CAD with the SR5 package.

Don't think they will add. Hopefully they keep it the same for a long time. An M/T truck is getting hard to find at all. 4 cyl. 2wd Chevy Colorado, 2500/3500 Ram diesel, and V6 4x4 Tacoma are about all that's left.

I wanted a manual basic truck but I misssed that with the change in 2018. Now looking at TRD off-road manual with tech. I guess my basic truck just got $$$$

Guys, Toyota is not dropping the MT choices because they want to, they are doing it because of no demand from consumers.

This is true and very unfortunate. It's a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy, as there are fewer manuals around people just buy autos because they either have never been exposed to anything else, or they assume it's the only option.

It's only a matter of time until they totally disappear, they really only make sense with ICE. At least they should be available overseas until the end.

Yeah, I actually preferred a manual, but all I could find were Cement autos. To me, color was more important than tranny. After best deal, of course.

Frontier is still holding out. It's old as hell but that's what I liked about it. I just like the Tacoma better.

There was never an SR5 Manual 3rd Gen, however there was a SR 4 Cylinder Manual that ended after 2017.

I agree about not many people know how to drive a stick. My wife and kids don’t know how.

There wasn't? Then it must have ended with the 3rd gen introduction. My 2013 was a sr5 6mt. Thats good to know.

    Stock for. Ow

I’ve got a 2014 ram 3500 6-speed manual dually. A couple of weeks ago dropped it off to have the 5th wheel hitch installed. Tossed the dude the keys, he was probably in his early 20’s. As I’m leaving I notice he’s out their beside the truck on his phone. He couldn’t drive a manual.

Unfortunately people that want a manual are a dying breed.

    2016 + 2017 you could get a manual in 4x4:
    SR 4 cyl.
    V6 TRD OR
    V6 TRD Sport
    V6 TRD Pro

and then not in all cab/bed configurations. No DCLB manuals and I think only one of the TRD models had AC manual.

2018 is the same minus the SR.

Hey it happens in 2016 I was :frusty: why can't I find a manual anywhere in NC. (I was only looking at SR5s trying to save a little money). Made the mistake of setting for a 2016 SR5 AC A/T. Only to realize moths later you can't get a manual in SR5. So 18 mouths later I traded in for a 2017 TRD OR M/T. Now i'm happy! :yay:

    Manual transmission?

Based on some of the reading I do, it is a real possibility that the internal combustion engine will be phased out in the not too distant future.

    Just my $.02, fwiw

Yep. I think ICE will be around for a bit longer. However, self driving vehicles are pretty damn close. I like driving. I drike 25-30K a year and some of that is just for fun.

I absolutely passionately hate the idea of self driving vehicles but also understand there are circumstances where they can be beneficial.
