I might cut you a deal on the awning though if you're interested. I haven't used it as much as I originally thought I would. I also have a side extension that goes with it that is still in the plastic.

Well so far I have not been able to get my SWR on my CB to be under a 3...

Cannot figure out if it is the Coax cable and the Firestik Firering thing I have or what... have tried to test for continuity but having some issues, about to go put the other CB antenna bracket back on the truck and see if that makes any difference in the SWR instead of having it mounted to the TC bed stiffeners like I have now which could be the problem as it may not be getting a good ground even though I have ran a ground wire to the frame... if doing that does not fix it, then it is going to be the firering on the coax and I can't really fix that without completely replacing the entire cable which I am not going to have time for between now and Jambo more than likely unless I do it Wednesday night somehow and hope that is the fix.

Sounds like a grounding issue like I have with my antenna on the rear bumper.

It’s probanly grounding, but like @hoarder23 eloquently phrased it, we don’t need amazing range, and 3 won’t fry your radio.

Yea, but trying to ground it is the issue I am having and get it to where it is somewhat under a 3...

Yea, I am thinking it is a grounding issue, but I want to play it safe and get it to somewhat good... I had it down to a 1.2 SWR when I first installed it a while back... but since then I had issues with the coax cable at the antenna mounting point when it rubbed against the camper shell and cut through the outside of it, so I taped it up and it worked fine for a while. Now that I have moved the antenna onto the TC bed stiffeners, I am trying to ground it and get it to be somewhat better than the 3.2 SWR that I am reading on the meter.

The bracket doesn't have to be grounded, however I have always heard there should be grounded metal nearby to form a "negatively charged ground plane" for the antenna to stick above. The side of a composite bed might not be enough?
