    Good to know.

You are correct about the weight of that size. My old STMaxx in 255/80 were reporterd to be 58lbs, my bathroom scale had them at 59lbs.

With my 3rd gen I’m also on Pro suspension, but stuck with 265/70/17 this time around.

255/85r16 cooler ST (not max) are 33.3", D load and only 47 lbs. that's what I'm going with. Just got some konig countersteers ordered which are 18 lbs for a 65 lb package. Only 4 lbs more than stock.

I have the trail wheels and they are extremely heavy, which is only exacerbated when heavy tires are added. The trail team wheels are 31 lbs.

@backcountryj I may go for it. That or concede to 255/75r17.

The STs are a great tire. I’ve run just about every light truck tire Cooper has except the STT Pro, and I’ve always been pleased.

While the STs are the lightest offering in the 255 realm that I know of, they are only made in 255/85/16. The setup in question revolves around the 4runner Pro wheel which is a 17”. For a 255/80/17, the lightest option available currently is the Toyo AT2 at 50lbs, which isn’t much more than the ST and a tire I’ve considered.

I'm sporting 4TR SEMA Pros w/ 255/80/17 ST Maxx on stock OR suspension. Unfortunately there is a little rub, but only on plastics. I used a heat gun to bend fender liner away, I still have a little more in the back section of liner and that little hard plastic tab in rear of fender well. That piece will have to get cut out. I'll take a pic of it later

Fuel economy loss is maybe 1 - 1.5 mpg on my (morning) commute. It's 22 miles each way, but in the am I get to experience some driving, unlike stop & go afternoon traffic ( 35 minutes vs 1 - 1 1/2 hr). Yeah, Metro NY traffic blows!

@BastekFX thanks for posting! I don't mind doing some heat gun treatment or minor trimming. Just really want to avoid cutting fenders and such. Been there done that.

I have the 255/80R17 ST Maxx on my GX470 nad I enjoy them quite a bit.

My only beef is that my tire popped off my 8.5" wheel the first time I wheeled on them (only dropped to 16psi =/) which makes me quite hesitant to air down to the tire pressure I typically use when in the snow or doing any true wheeling.

They're also a very short tire. 255/80 may be the size, but that is NOT the measurement the tire comes out to. My friend's have 285/70R17 Duratracs and 285/70R17 Wildpeak AT3ws and both are CLEARLY taller than my ST Maxx. My tires look tiny next to them. I don't mind it, but I know some people care about that sort of thing =P

Nicely done sir! I had a feeling it could be done on stock suspension, with some minor plastic trimming/manipulation.

I’m not on stock suspension anymore, but you’ve got me considering swapping out my SCS wheels again :crapstorm:

Good to know about the pressure. How low did you go after that 18-20psi ?

If you're airing down to just 20psi you're more or less wasting your time, especially with an e-rated tire. I still got down to 16ish for typical offroad driving, I am just a bit more cognizant of the potential for issues and drive accordingly. ie less wheelspin where possible, less steering to full lock, etc. I still go to 8-10 in deep snow and just try to keep the tires as straight as possible.

Long term, once these tires are done, I'll go back up to a 285/70

Greeny here. Just got 2018 trd sport and wanting to put 255/80/17 nitto ridge grapplers on. Read so much stuff Im dizzy. Wanting to know what mods will be needed to make this work, as far as suspension? Will be everyday vehicle 90% highway. 10% offroad trail no rock crawling. Thanks

Toyo open country RT 255/80/17 on method roost 17/8.5 0 offset.

Garage was not sure if it was rubbing we will see, but on stock offroad suspension it fits.

They rub with scs rims on stock sport rims, nothing the grinder couldn't solve.
