Here is an example for a lease deal in my area on a SR5.

    Screenshot 2017-08-05 at 8.27.00 PM.jpg

In this case MSRP is 31999, you put 2999 down. You pay 289 a month for 36 months with mileage allowance of 12,000 per year.
Buyout or lease end purchase price is 22,399, this number is set. You can still negotiate on MSRP even on a lease, a lot of people don´t know this. You could also put more down.
If you leased this vehicle and went over the mileage by the end of 36 months, if you turned the vehicle in you would pay 15 cents per mile over 12,000(each year), so 36,000 by the end of lease term. If you bought the vehicle, then mileage does not matter.
Basically, the residual value of this particular deal is high, mid to upper 70s percentage, again, this number is set.

As for question 3, a dealer will almost always want you take what is on the lot, because that is a vehicle moved that day, however, one that wants your business will get you what you want, or at least close to what you want. So, yes, they can get one transferred in for you to lease, but they will push hard for you to take what they have that day.

My lease came from 350km away, if you are willing to deal, they will usually meet your demands.

I also negotiated price of my 4Runner the same as I would if I was buying it.

So I guess, the main thing with a lease is getting a low payment for a few years at the expense of paying more for the truck if you decide to buy it at the end of the lease. For those who have went the lease route and decided to keep their trucks, what were the options then for buy out? Can you get a decent length of a loan to continue to keep the payments low? If I went this route, I'd hate to have a monthly payment double because I had to take X amount of months to pay off the residual price. Obviously the truck is used at the end of the lease so I imagine you won't get as much of deal with low payments like you would buying new. The same is probably true for APR on the loan.

Sorry for all the questions. I ran into a situation a few years ago where I had to sell my Rubicon. I took advantage of the "guaranteed" overtime my employer has had for the last 10 years, so I bought the Jeep thinking I could pay it off within a couple of years. A changing of the guard meant that OT was cutout, so I had to let it go. Bad thinking on my part I know, but it wasn't my main vehicle so selling it meant only losing that extra monthly payment to stay out of debt. I still have and am driving my Grand Cherokee and it's been paid off for two and a half years now.

When I get this truck, I want to know I'm going to be able to keep it, since it will be both primary/weekend warrior.

You always have some options. The main disadvantage of leasing to buy is the time it takes to pay off (typically more like 7-8 years as opposed to 5-6). During the lease, you can opt to purchase at any point, whether it's a month in or at the end of your term. For example, I chose to purchase after a little over one year which gave me a little bit of all the benefits (my decision had a variety of factors which led to this versus buying at end of lease term), but I did some serious homework and consulting with my credit union prior to going down this path. That, I'd argue, is the main takeaway: you can work out a variety of deals, all of which will have pros/cons and that will likely work for you, all things considered. You just need to consult with those who will be directly involved, financially (yourself, your bank, TFS), to figure out which route makes the most sense.

Appreciate the reply Ossaris. That's what I plan to do.

In the mean time, I guess I'll just try to horde up some money while the overtime's good. The good thing is, time's on my side. My current vehicle is paid for and the new 2018s haven't been released yet.

It would be pretty cool if Calvary Blue was available on all the trim levels instead of the TRD Pro. I'm getting where I like that color more and more.

Any people with more leasing experience tell me if this is a good deal? And has anyone had any luck negotiating price on a lease? I am talking about buying as well and they offered me this truck for 38,500 ($500 over invoice). Think I could get them to base the lease off that price?

depends. No good for me. I put 33 to 35k a year on and best thing for me is put on 4 yr note and trade every 2 years. I went with Colorado diesel and resale not as good as Tacoma so it is costing me more once I trade. But whatever truck I buy reality comes down to trade or real value from what you paid and what it is worth real dollars in 2 years 66k mile range.

All I have to chime in here is that I leased a 2017 TRD Sport DCSB 4x4 w/ nav for $346/month after taxes. 42 months, 15k/year, $0 down.

I've not seen a single Tacoma commercial lately, lease or not. Just tons of 3G's out on the streets.

They had to cut back in marketing budget to cover all the rear diff replacements, CPS sensors, hvac blowers, 3rd brake light assemblies, etc.

I'd like to see it in person on a trd pro. Once 18s are ready to.order I'm ordering. If it looked good I'd order it in pro

Could a color specific to the TRD Pro be ordered for a TRD OR (or other trim for that matter)? Seems like it wouldn't be hard to do since it's the same truck. The only problem I would see would be the wait time for the consumer.

Anybody have any lease/money factor and residual numbers for the Tacomas?

Need to business lease a new tacoma for the farm. looking at 2018. Don't care about engine, drive wheels, transmission. Just need 4 door. Dealers around here giving me $350 a month for 36/12k, with 0 out of pocket. Seems pretty high to me.

Prefer SR, to keep it base, but if residuals are better for SR5, that is fine.

The price quoted is for SR 4 door.

I’d shop around some more. You should be able to get closer to $300 or better. Scrutinize the the itemized list to see how they’re raising the price. As a comparison, we’re looking at a 2018 Sport, dbl cab, short bed, 4K down, with technology package and tunneau cover for about $450 in CA.
