Yeah I've only been on california's trails which are usually not very groomed or even and has multiple rocks but usually smoother. I never experienced jumps or roots or logs out there either. THen again I stayed local and never lived next to a bike park. I think what I did classified more so as XC but I could be wrong.

Here's my 2016 DCLB with Leer 180Wilco Offroad hitchswing and Kuat NV hauling the steeds outside of Bend, OR along the Cascade Lakes Highway. This was the first trip with the taco built the way I'd envisioned for years. It was awesome!

I'd say both can easily be found. 5010 is a great bike for here.

Of course, it all depends on the kind of riding on what you are looking for. If you want something that can tackle most of our downhill, but still pedal all day, 140 in the front is a good place to start.

My current all mountain bike is a Pivot 429c with 130 in front... I'm not super into the crazy downhills, but can hold my own ok....that said, I've been thinking about pivots new 5.5.

But I also have a 21 lb. S-works epic comp, so if I need all day cc, i have that option

Honestly I probably will be more trail than enduro/DH. I wont get too crazy on the downs. But I want the confidence to go over anyything.

I’m a pretty mellow rider but when I demo’ed the 5010 I really liked it. Until I rode the Tallboy (29”). Hightower might be even nicer but I don’t need the temptation of a new bike. It will be three years for my Tallboy2 this summer and it still does everything I need. 130/120 front/rear travel and slightly larger tires 2.5 front, 2.3 rear. I live and mostly ride in Santa Cruz but have ridden Bend, Gooseberry, Downieville, in Prescott AZ right now.

Can anyone with a Thule T2 classic post a picture of how they have it configured to not interfere with the tailgate? Thanks!

It’s a nice color. I think @tomgru had a girlfriend who left him for a guy in a grey truck once. Now he can’t help but always hate that color. Don’t take it personal.

Hey fellas, I started mountain biking about 2 years ago. Started with an inexpensive bike (Scott spark) because I wanted to make sure I enjoyed it and now I’m looking to upgrade! I mainly do steep climbs and easy to moderate single tracks. I like to climb fast and go downhill as fast as I can. I’m looking for a bike that will grow with my skill level and something I can keep for a few years. That brings me to my questions.. is this bike priced fair/good and will it fit my style? I’m 6’0” and weigh 180.

Yep. One of the best trail/all mountain bikes made. Good price due to the carbon frame.

I was dead set on a YT Jeffsy until I went to a local bike shop and found this new 2017 Santa Cruz 5010c. Got a great price since it’s last years model. Rode it and loved the playful nature. I ride frequently and take my bike all over Texas. Been riding a 29” Scott genius 940 and while great it wasn’t playful or as maneuverable as the 27.5 5010. The 5010 came with a crap Xc rear tire so. DHR has been ordered to match the dhf in the front.

That come out of Austin somewhere?

I’m in the same position. Dead set on the jeffsy or spectral, but keep popping into bicycle sport shop hoping to find the deal I can’t pass up before I order one (and before I sell my remedy).

I'm about 6'1", and ride a L Hightower LT along the CO front range. It's a great bike. Swap out that rear shock, and it'll be a monster.

What do you recommend I replace the rear shock with?
