    Too few to list.
I received the Toyota survey when they were working on the 3rd gens and I don't remember any question about a grab handle. There were questions about gas mileage, engine choices (including diesel) and cost, towing capacities, etc..

I wouldn't buy a diesel anymore. Once they decided to eff them up with all the new emissions crap, they became nothing but a headache. Unless you need it for heavy haul dually stuff, I would avoid it.

The theory floating around on the Tundra forum is that they can sell more step rails. Could be part of it. I do not like steps and had them removed from my Tundra. Toyota makes a ton of money on them. $200 parts for $500+. Adding the grab handle to my Tundra was one of the best mods I did.

I've only been in my '17 for three weeks and this was the first thing I noticed. My 2003 Tacoma had one and now it's like learning to drive again. That was my driving position for 14 years. Maybe I can fashion something together in the next few days to curb my withdraws.

If you didn't notice it missing for three months you don't need it.

I work with a guy who drove Toyota for years. He drives Nissan Titan Diesel because Toyota doesn't make a diesel vehicle. That's lost sales. I know its just an anecdotal example, but I'm sure he's not alone.

couldn't someone render a mirror image in a 3d printer from the passenger side a pillar cover/trim piece. The handle it self should just flip over to fit.

The pillar molding is different from passenger side to driver side to accommodate the handle.

If it was just the handle, then maybe. But it is the trim piece also, which is bigger than most printers. It would take some effort to mirror the handle and get it to match the stock trim piece. That would probably be the easier route. I am also wondering if a filament / FDM printer could make a part that would be strong enough for the life cycle.

I have worked with some strong PET materials, but they have their limits on FDM machines.

hence a 3d printed mirrored image of the passenger side so the handle can be accommodated.

Our suburban is the same way... older one had one newer one doesn't. I actually believe it's a crash safety related change than anything else..

Last I heard somebody was going to try to fit an assembly from a 15 on a 16 as a they are the same part number. I have looked at it closely and I don't think it's going to be a direct fit. The point where the dash meets the A pillar is different. May need trimming to get it to work. The shape of the plastic is also different so you would need to replace passenger side too, if your OCD and need matching handles.
