Going to do a complete brake job while I am under there doing the lift. What are you guys running for disc's and pads? What about the drum rear? Looking for quiet and stopping power (stock calipers)

Have you done rear brakes before? I'll post some reference pics.
I think you're reading the data wrong.. Most non-enthusiasts may use OEM, most members I've come across on here use some form of aftermarket pad/rotor combo.

Hawk pads, Centric Slotted Rotors, Bendix 871 rear shoes.

Thanks for the beta! Been several years since I did drums...I think the last time was on my 70 Bronco. Any photo and/or coaching is appreciated!

Yea seems IF people have done them at all in the past that they're a bit rusty. Last time I did my brakes I laid out the parts on the floor specifically to post up here for reference. Hope it helps. It's always good to snap a few pics of your own before you take it apart.

They seem to be better than the worn Wearever shoes from advance that I had. Proper rear brake adjustment would actually help most people.

Toyota OE brake parts are actually quiet good and most people on here like me who don't want to experiment go with OE parts. I used Advics rotors and pads because they are the OE part without the Toyota price tag.

There is no single option that works best for everyone. Toyota pads were designed to provide adequate stopping power while also providing low dust, low noise and long life. You can get more aggressive pads but the trade-off is usually more dust, more noise and a shorter life. In addition, different pad compounds will act differently so you may need to experiment until you find a pad that fits your driving style. "Quiet" and "stopping power" usually don't go together because if you want stopping power you need metallic pads which tend to be noisier than ceramic pads.

Regarding the rear shoes - you're not going to notice much of a difference between one brand of shoe and another because the rears only do about 20% of your braking, and most of the time you can improve rear breaking just be cleaning and adjusting the mechanism.

I agree. I would say most use OEM and aftermarket is the outlier. But according to another poster, Im considered a non enthusiast aka boring.

Toyota OE brake parts are made either by Advics or Akebono depending on the part, which is why you can never go wrong using aftermarket Akebono pads on a Toyota.
