    Hi everyone,

Just joined the site. Looks like a lot of great info.

This is my 3rd Tacoma. 1994, 1998 and 2004. All black, all 4x4, all std shift.

I'm trying to get the sport hood for my 2004 Tacoma. Has anyone taken a sport hood from a different model and/or year an put it on your 04?

I don't mind ordering from Toyota at full retail, I just want to make sure it will fit correctly.

    Thanks,

Thats what i was thinking to. Maybe look for one at a junkyard. The chances of finding one with a good front end is slim to none though.

It wont fit unless you swap the fenders, core support, grill, bumper, headlights, and all

you can get a glassworks hood or hack up the 4runner hood and have it grafted to your current hood

    2005+ scoop in a 99 steel hood? ;)

Wow, you guys are fast. I am speaking with my dealer, but wanted to get some other opinions.

If I have to change fenders, grill, etc, I'll probably just leave it as it is, but I'll see what happens. Thanks again for the responses. Very helpful

you can speak with the dealer all you want but a hood to fit your 04 without any other mods does not exist OEM

This was a wrecked Xrunner hood that was cut up and the scoop welded into a steel 99 hood. it came out sweet and ended up running about 450 for the work plus the 99 hood. not much different than the glassworks hood

I had a glassworks hood on that truck earlier and the hood latch pulled out of the hood and it flew up at 60 mph :(

I ditched it and went this route instead

    I miss that truck :)

    Thanks Justin,

I'll show my ignorance of welding and custom fabricating now.

You're saying it's possible to take a 4runner hood, cut out the scoop and have it welded onto my 2004 hood? And it looks that nice?

I'll get a hood, one way or another. I just need a fabricating/welding artist to make it look this good. Wow.

    Thanks
