So you just used the garnish that came on the grill instead of the shinny flat one that everyone else is putting on it?

That was my next step. If it’s still loose, I’ll put some silicone on it that I have left over from resealing my shower this past week. Lol!

Any updates on which sites / dealers sell the OEM grilles?

So what do you guys think. I used my Chinese Grill that came in . No provisions for using the OEM garnish . It has 4 screws instead of 2 pins and clips. TSS bolted up fine and works perfectly. My buddy at Toyota said that my 2 1 lift that keeps a slight rake might be why it's working ok. Just wondering if my TSS sensor being not protected is a problem. I guess I could get the 35180 grill later. Just not sure if I need to. I know that's how sliderule01 did in the first post. Just checking.

Got another email from this dealership asking for the VIN, just like the last attempt. Maybe Gene Messer Toyota is onto us! I responded to the parts guy and told him I verified the part will work and to process it anyway, looking doubtful.

Toyota requires a VIN number for the part number #PT228-35180 to make sure it is a TRD PRO tacoma. I have submitted the order to Toyota and they are working on it, however they will require a VIN. Is there any way you could send that to us?

Go on AutoTrader and find a 2018 Pro for sale. Get the VIN and give that to the dealer. Try to find a private seller (in case Toyota has a way to check whether a vehicle has been titled), and ideally one in your state so it looks as legit as possible. This is what I did when they requested a VIN, and it worked like a charm.

I got charged , shipping notice , then at last min email asking for a VIN , sent one from trade n times. They refused to send me grill so I asked to speak to a manager. He said only way was bring in my registration to parts department. such a pain. Good luck to all who are trying to get a 35180.

Installed my china pro grille last night. No garnish needed. I just covered the spot over the radar with some extra kydex plastic I had. It looks much cleaner without that shiny garnish piece. 6977FAD1-39B9-4976-8918-088DEB3CC696.jpgD8BF52A0-D3F3-4FC9-B435-315D3573AD81.jpg 520C8267-55BC-4437-8C96-AB69CFD61D3A.jpg

thats exactly what I was thinking about doing, don't like the shinny spot on grill if I dont need it. I still have my insert from 2017 pro grill I could use.
Let us know how its going in a week or so after driving around if you are getting errors or anything.

Will do. I drove it to work and the light came on once but turned off. I only had the little Phillips screw holding it on so that may have been the cause for that. I just put the other two on when I got home. The Pre Collision stuff does work though, I intentionally activated it and the brake warning came on:thumbsup:

Did that on mine. Kept getting a light in my dash. Pulled the cover off. Went away. I'm gonna give in and get a factory grill , either one and use the factory garnish I ordered.

Looks good. They should call the factory piece a “garish”...because.

I may try derping mine so it’s not so shiny.

Oh that's devious. I like that. Mad at myself for not thinking of that...

    I bought this knockoff grille-

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-2016-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

It could not accomodate the factory PRO garnish. I had to dremel it to fit the garnish. I had to open the holes up top for the posts and dremel some slots in for the lower garnish tabs. It's fine and looks good, but it wasn't a bolt on job. I'm not sure if that was covered on this thread yet or not. Kinda pissed me off, but a little dremel action wasn't worth the hassle of returning it and buying another.
