21 trucks deep is a road party...

but we are still a good ways out from the set trip dates.

though I gather these dates are a bitch if we gotta lock down popular camp grounds ahead of time.


whats the plan here for coms? cb? baofeng? pray for cell phone coverage through out? string & can 20 deep??

@mach1man001 maybe we start gathering cell #s from those getting less serious about bailing last minute??

 

21 trucks, we just roll the window down and yell, can't imagine too many will get away too far.

 

the logistics of accommodating 21 trucks at one time upon arrival on a weekend in the summer could be tricky here
keeping 21 trucks together may be tougher than assumed

I vote @uurx in charge of comms.

 

Hm... @mach1man001 might be beneficial to get an excel sheet or google spreadsheet that shows each truck - number of passengers - communication capabilities etc going so everyone can see how much work they need to do before the trip. Just a thought...

I have a spare CB or two... - one is a unisex or uniden or whatever it is... 25$ and its up to the first buyer - however I won't be home for 3 weeks. You'll need to get an antenna and wiring. It has a pigtail coming off it and the handheld unit. The other I need to test still - somehow

baofeng is by far the best bang for the buck out the box

works way better than any motorola two way out the box

it costs less than and works better than almost all cb setups out the box

would not rely on reliable consistent cell service throughout vermot but I am sure most of you NE peeps already know this

 

BaoFengs/Ham radios will definitely be your best be for coordinating--- especially if the group spreads out.

You guys could consider staggered start times too? Inevitably you'll have some early risers and late risers, if the route is mapped out well enough you could send out an early group and a late group.

 

Hm... time to acquire a sat-phone from the company since they want me to always be by my company phone...

I vote for CB being the comms preference...

 

i have 3 hand helds, that I think will work with CBs, but never been able to test. I want to put a CB in, just not ready yet, need to get a few other things first.
