Hi, I have 2017 Tacoma sr 2.7 DBSB with 4k miles. I try to trade it for another tacoma but most dealer try to low ball with my trade, most of them offer 22k or 22k5. I try one dealer that actually will buy my car for 24k5, If I buy car from them I will have advantage of 1k5 tax but their car price is no haggle so their price usually higher than average plus if I go with them I have to go with CU with around 1.69% for 48 months. I just think that I just sell my car for them then go with Toyota dealership since they are pre approved for 0% . So do you guys think try to play with trade or just sell the car get money then deal with dealership for new one? Thank you in advance.

    What’re you trying to get?

I’d try by all means to sell. Also, try other dealers! If you drive 200-300 miles to get more on trade it, well worth it.

If I try to trade it out of state, I will lose tax advantage. I think i just sell it, take cash and play with dealer. I try to get sr 4x4 double cab

You won't lose the tax advantage if purchased in another state. They have to process (paper work) everything for your home state, the state you reside/register it in.

I never know this. I will check this out with local tax office.

    I think you’re right — it’s hard to sell anything over 20k

    Good luck with your endeavor.

You bought it for 23K new. Drove it 4 k miles. Now the dealers that offering you 22K for it, are "lowballing?" WOW :D

:D:D:D. Since I got much bigger offer from another dealer, I consider that is "lowballing". In fact they try to keep my 17" pro wheel for 22k, and other dealer didn't care what wheel I put on as long as it alloy wheel and they give me 24k5 :fingerscrossed:.

Tell them you'll trade it in with the Pro wheels but they have to throw in a set of new Pro wheels on your new purchase. Play hard ball with these people! Don't act afraid of them. I don't care if they make $5 on the deal or give me the "my family won't eat this week if I give you this deal" song and dance routine. Laugh when they tell you that. I've learned the tougher you are on them the faster they want to get you out of there and are more likely to sell you a truck because they'd rather eat crap and sell a truck than let you walk because you were tough on them.

I just strip down everything on my truck this afternoon, likely I will sell the truck to dealer offer highest price. Will take spare cash over to play with them. and you are totally right, they need to sale to make money, we can live without purchase it.
