Well after the commute this morning, I can tell you it does NOT work as good as stock. It works about as well as the one on my Ford Ranger did. There is one station I listen too that used to come in crystal clear, but is marginal now. WAY better than no antenna though. And, since I don't actually listen to the radio very often I'm perfectly fine with it.

Since I finally ordered my lift and definitely won't be needing it at the next meet, I decided to pull it and clean stuff up under there before the lift install. Here's what was on top of the skid :D

I'll bet the mud weighed more than the skid.

I thought aboud doing it through the breather. It might be slow going though.

I ordered the RCD 4-5". Should be able to get 6-7" with the right shocks/ spacers.

Check Wheelers offroad for the price.

I'm probably going to talk to Downsouth or Radflo about something custom, because I want more up travel than a normal 6" lift shock will give me.

So after starting this project a year ago, I finally finished it this week. There are slightly smaller boxes that would fit, but I already had this one from my Ford Ranger, and I can fit an acoustic guitar in it. The only problem is that it doesn't fit between the wheel wells, so...

    Cut the corners out

Bolt in the pieces cut out from the opposite side

Test Fit. Still have access to the D-Rings.

I don't have any pics of it, but I filled the gaps in the corners with bodo and painted the whole thing.

Mounted using neoprene/ rubber washers to prevent leaking.

I had these metal bars from mounting the box in the ranger and used them to distribute the pressure from the mounting bolts.

Put some sticker under the lid :D

    All Mounted Up

There are some spots I need to repaint, but overall I think it looks pretty good.

It will be nice to have somewhere other than the cab to keep recovery gear always in the truck and to put a couple bags when road tripping.

I'll probably only stick a guitar back there for short trips. I've needed somewhere to stick stuff for awhile, just haven't gotten around to it till now. I started this project by cutting out the corners, over a year ago
