My wife likes durian but I refuse to allow it in the house. She occasionally will bring home a jack fruit that doesn't smell that much better and they are so big they take her weeks to eat and stink up the whole refrigerator. :puke:

Not my wife, just a picture to show the size.

A local radio station here did an on-air segment with both Durian and Surströmming a few months back. It was hilarious to hear their reaction (granted it is radio). If only there was Smell-o-vision...

The trick is to hold your nose. Honestly. It tastes different if you try it with you nose closed than it does if you smell it first. The texture is like a fiber filled snot.
Not sure id be brave enough to try surstromming.

Durian is really delicious if you can just not smell while eating it. Last year My wife’s aunt had a Durian cake for her birthday. Stunk the whole house up, but mmm mmm, delicious.
