Is the glass windoor option going to be like this where window actually opens?6D726CA1-CDF6-4389-86AF-1488173E5705.jpg

Or like this where whole side panel opens? DE7D635A-14C2-4D7C-9DF4-F99D75E0077E.jpg

Will the window have any slider in it to open while side is closed?

I started emailing Phil a couple months ago about a Drifter and placed an order with the plan to give up my apartment and live out of it for the summer. Unfortunately, they emailed me a couple weeks ago saying there was no way they were going to meet my timeline - but that they were willing to loan me their prototype seen in the launch photos - aka "Zero"

So I packed up my life and drove down on Friday to pick it up.

@Overlanerd and @Iggy have created something special here and their dedication really shows. Tons of little features I've always wanted, but never seen - and then features I've never even thought about but now would not want to live with out. And this is just the prototype, not the production version.

I've slept in it for two nights so far and absolutely love the thing. Right now the interior is a mess since I've been spending 12+ hours in the truck driving East (left Benicia Saturday at 11:30PM) and I'm writing this from a post office in BFE, Wyoming.

I remember reading some questions about roof rack compatibility. Keep in mind this is for a third gen.

Prinsu racks fit...so you can do it but the real question is should you? Doesn't give you much real estate to work with. My plan was to mount Maxtrax to the rack until I get mine and drill holes in the sides but they just won't fit.

Glad to see Zero out and about! For those that don't know, Zero has become our unofficial mule to test everything out. We have plans for this guy once he gets back.

    Godspeed man!

The windoor we chose does not have a slider. We will definitely look into that option though. It is framed similar to the first picture and is 15” x 40” with vertical sides.

Safe travels Brian and glad your enjoying the Drifter! We’ll definitely stay in contact with you. Awesome that you’re full timing it for the summer. Something many of us just dream of.

Take care of our baby and we’ll see you sometime after expo when your camper is ready. As well as that camper works, the finish is much better on the production models.

:rofl:We’re working on getting more exposure... Expo will be great since all the players will be in the same spot so attendees can compare.

Very lucky to get a summer like that, enjoy it and nice to see some more exposure for vagabond.

ON a side note, more pictures of that storage system in the bed? I am looking to build my own (mimic the goosegear set up) and I plan to use the extruded aluminum to frame it and use wood to finish it.

Thanks! Just loaded the site and it already looks helpful. Tons of DIY and even drawings with bill of materials and explanations on what everything means. This should help. Pricing seems reasonable also.

Awesome, I am thinking of using the 1010 t slot or the 20-20/25-25 metric t-slot.

Sorry to hijack but 1 more question.

Any recommendations on wood type and thickness? Anyone know what these big companies use? The 1010 t slots has 1/4" opening with 1/2" slot groove so looks like I should use at least 1/2" board and trim the edges to fit the tslot tight then add fasteners or could use smaller 1/4" board to slide into the tslot and fasteners. I have seen some use birch and some use mdf and coated it.

I’ve been looking at that too and I’m thinking the same thing you are, however I want to find something lighter than wood but strong enough that I could sit on as a bench too.
