Alright, thanks. I guess they really are like that haha. I have an old tube step I took off 2015 Taco. I would if swapping the hinges will work

Yes, its normal for the tube steps. Look at my pic in post #6 on page 1 they are factory too. I had to step sideways to use them. That wasnt a bad thing though, @JPTaco1974 is right, you will get used to them.

Ive since sold mine and bought rock sliders, but they were nice and good looking steps for what they were intended to be used for, I got a lot of compliments on the way they looked on the truck.

Thanks for all your input everyone. Appreciate the responses!

I'm going to leave them as is and hopefully get use to them. I had tube steps on my 2nd gen truck, but they was at least a 4-5 inches drop so I'm still use to that.

Hey- glad you are going with them, but if you ever want to lower them, you might be able to drop them a little by say 1/2 to 1 inch by using steel spacers with washers and longer bolts- check out the hardware section at True Value if you ever think about trying it. Good luck!

That actually is something i’ve been considering. Is True Value a store or something? I was thinking of going to Home Depot to see if they have anything i can use.

Hey - yeah, True Value hardware stores are independently owned neighborhood hardware stores that usually stock great hardware - the one I go to has an entire row of those hardware bins you see with all types of nuts and bolts, stainless and steel, and metric. They usually also employ older ex-service guys that know their hardware too.

Anyways, try them out if you have one nearby. I think you may want to look for a
steel collar spacer, or aluminum spacer if they have one, bolt and two stainless collar washers. Not sure about sizes since I dont have those steps anymore.

You know what? The guy that made my sliders is really handy with this sort of stuff too and might be able to help you by building spacers if you like, or perhaps if you see his sliders you may want those instead. He made a custom hi-lift jack mount for me by modifying his own design that turned out awesome. Ryan is really a great guy and has his shop out in Lomita near Long Beach - a 1/2 hr drive from L.A. PM him here if you want help with that: @Shmellmopwho
